A Layman Looks at Luke

When God sent his son into the world, he could have sent him as a grown, mature man. Instead, he was born like all men (except Adam) as a baby. He was born to experience life as we do. He was cared for when he could not care for himself, experienced the love of father and mother, and had a normal childhood. He was tempted in all things just like we are, yet without sin. He was the only perfect man there ever was or will be.
“Who, being in the very nature of God, did not consider equality with something to be grasped, but made himself, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness.” (Phil 2:6-7 )
This word of God, that was from the beginning, took on human form. Jesus did not show up in some incarnate form in divine splendor. He gave all that up to take on the humble position of a man, born of a woman. He grew up into manhood obeying his parents and his heavenly father.
