Anyone that aspires to do anything great understands that the success is in the details. Nothing great happens overnight, and I truly believe that every situation that you encounter is to prepare you for what you are becoming.
I have a strong dislike for quick fix messages. I also have a strong dislike for speeches or books that encourage doing better, but don’t provide directions on how to achieve it. I learned how to find the great things that were inside of me in stages.
The first stage for me was learning I am human. Perfection is not in our DNA.
I worked for a corporation for 7 years before I left and went full time to focus on my non-profit organization. I had to leave, because after my battle with breast cancer I could no longer keep up in such a fast- paced workplace. I had also lost a lot of memory due to the chemotherapy treatments (chemo brain is real folks).
I planned on retiring from my corporate job, so leaving was a very tough move for me. I cried for a very long time because I missed the sales environment, my staff, the trainings, staff development, relationships with my peers, team building activities, and the rush that I got when we hit goals. I missed the capabilities that my mind had before cancer, and losing the ability to move and think like I used to was a life altering change.

About the Author
Mercedes Wilson is a wife and mother of four. She wears many hats including being a tv show personality, philanthropist, author, and magazine editor. She has a brand new podcast show called The Mercedes Wilson Show that highlights issues in todays church to answer the questions that so many may have about the teachings of Christ. Best known for founding a non profit organization called For Our Daughters Incorporated after her battle with breast cancer, Mercedes and the board of directors have served over 4,000 young women. The mission of For Our Daughters Inc. is to educate young women how to advocate for their health and wellness.
Mercedes has been featured in several newspapers, news outlets, and magazines across the country to tell her story of hope. She is a profound public speaker and is on a mission to be the best servant leader that she can be according to the gifts that God has given her. She holds a BA in Human Services from Empire State College, and currently resides in Buffalo New York with her husband and four children.
