Dealing with pain 24/7 has been my life for at least two years straight. The constant back and leg pain became mixed with the demise of my other hip. It was apparent I needed another surgery. My body took longer to heal this time. Age seemed to be a contributing factor making me lose focus and perceive that my golden years seemed somewhat tarnished.
There must be a reason but God won’t tell me. There must be a plan I don’t understand. I know He hears my cries yet He won’t tell me why. Is it to make me strong? Is it to make me believe? I know it’s all in His hands. Will I ever truly comprehend?
Through this new trial I often found it difficult to rejoice in each new day. Yielding to feelings of negativity hindered my ability to give thanks to the One who provides everything I hold dear. Therefore with renewed strength, I stepped into a new life as I was reaching out for true life.
My soul was starving, I was low on faith. In my darkest hour God saved me from falling into another pit of despair. As I raised my hands towards heaven I found myself wrapped in the arms of God’s love. My heart and soul were empty but in His love, I found a reason to belong. I found how great a love can be.
How could I not believe when everywhere I looked, I saw His call. The birds that fly and sing, the sky so blue, the warmth of the sun, the kiss of the rain, all mingle with the flowers that rise from the earth and bloom with life. Yes, I do believe!
God that has sustained me through this journey called life allowing me to be broken, yet lifts me up to once again put one foot in front of the other…pain and all!

About the Author
Nancy Maggio is an accomplished speaker, teacher, writer, and musician. A native Californian, Nancy received her AA from Pasadena City College and her teaching credential from Long Beach City College. She spent thirty-eight years with Sweet Adelines International, teaching, coaching, singing, and competing with award-winning choruses and quartets.
It was the death of her father in 1979 that brought Nancy to the saving grace as a believer and follower of Jesus Christ. Years of spiritual growth, forgiveness, healings, and recovery have enriched her life since that time.
Nancy began writing in 2000. Her poetry began as praise songs in 2004, and soon grew to inspired words from sermons and life lessons.
