One night, after 'lights out,' I lay in my bed and listened to Nancy's whispered prayers. The calico curtain was closed, but I could hear the March winds blowing against the window panes. Nancy finished her prayers and climbed into bed. I lay still for a few minutes, and then said, 'Nancy?' 'Yes, Rachel?' 'Aren't you afraid to do that? I mean, pray directly to God, just like you do?' 'Why,no,' replied Nancy gently, 'of course not. I couldn't be afraid. I know God loves me.' 'Yes,' I said, rather sadly, 'I'm sure He does. Everyone loves you, Nancy, You're so good.' 'Why, Rachel,' she laughed a little, 'I'm not good. I'm no better than you or anyone else, trust me. But I know God loves me. And Rachel--He loves you, too. Don't think for a minute He does not. He sent His Son to die for you, as well as me, and everyone we know.' I was silent for awhile, and she asked me quietly what church I had been brought up in. I told her, and she sighed. Then she said, 'Do you still go? Do you wish to? If you do, I know there is such a church within walking distance of the college. I could find out for you if you like......'

About the Book
Elementary school teacher Teresa Anderson goes to the home of her recently dead colleague, Rachel Evanson, to assist in removing her personal effects. Which she is finds in Rachel's bedroom is far more than she bargains for--a diary of shocking suffering. Teresa reads through as she continues with her routine--and learns about experiences that changes her own view of life!
About the Author
Qualifications-- I do not have a degree in English, nor have I "free-lanced" except for a few church bulletins throughout the years. However, I have written short stories since I was a teenager, and have practiced writing novels as well. The novel I will be sending in is the first that actually "wrote itself"--I struggled with the others. This novel has something to say, and the prose is clear and readable, so I decided it was time to test it out. Something more personal-- Christianity has been my life since I was twenty years of age, and the Lord's guidance in my life and actions holds an important place in my accomplishments. The novel should reflect this, although it is fiction. Where I live/personal life-- I live in Rowlett, Tx, just outside of Dallas city limits. I am married and have three children, two dogs, and a son-in-law. I worked retail for over 20 years. I belong to the Lutheran--Missouri Synod Church, taking part in choir and other activities. My other hobbies are weather, especially storm watch, and I have studied sciences such as physics and chemistry, and math (higher calculus). I enjoy studying history, Bible history included.
