The only One who is said to have seen wisdom is the Lord. Death and destruction have not seen it, and it is not in the land of the living; but Job 28:27 says that He saw wisdom. Most of your Bible versions will then say that He declared it. What does that mean? The Hebrew word, caphar, means to score with a mark, inscribe, intensively recount by showing forth, speaking, telling. The verses before vs. 27 give account, mark, or show forth God’s wisdom – the wisdom by which all things are established and maintained. Creation is truly a demonstration of God’s wisdom that we can see with our physical eyes, but most hearts, or “spiritual eyes”, are blind to what creation showcases.
If the Lord is the only one who has a vision of wisdom, then how are we to attain it? How can we, who cannot see it, get it, as Solomon told us to do in Proverbs? This is the question that Job posed twice in our passage. To gain a vision of wisdom, one must first gain a vision of God, the only one who has seen wisdom.

George Kahl received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Bible from Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pennsylvania. He has been a pastor for ten years.
As a pastor, he sees a great need and thirst for something more in America, and it is his desire to help introduce others to the Savior, or to help them get to know Him better. As a father of two, he wants to help shape their generation to be better than his own. With churches closing and faithfulness becoming optional, he believes that we need to start redeeming the time.
He lives, and pastors a church, in upstate New York. It is a wonderful setting in which to behold God’s beautiful handiwork.
