Another part of driving the tractor that I love is when my younger brothers and sisters come out to the field and run along side of the tractor. They don’t get so close that they are in danger of being run over, but close enough to make me feel very important and looked up to. They sing along with me while picking wild flowers in the field. Just think about the blue sky, warm breezes, the smell of freshly cut grass, the excitement of driving a tractor, the fun of singing and picking flowers, and you’ll know why I love haying season.

About the Author
Nancy McLoughlin grew up on a farm in northern Wisconsin, which gives her the opportunity to showcase her experiences as a child. Because her parents believed in hard work along with lots of playtime, she learned many good life lessons along the way. While she no longer lives on a farm, and has relocated to the suburbs of Augusta, Georgia, she still uses the lessons on a daily basis that she learned while having Fun on the Farm.
