Sherry became nervous that October day, however, sitting beside Larry at Carol Ann Garrett’s presentation of her earth-rounder experience. She could feel the vibes going through Larry and thought, "surely he wouldn’t seriously consider doing this!"
She wasn't too readily accepting when Larry first approached her with the idea of circling the world alone with her in their pearly white Beechcraft Baron. She couldn't believe he was really serious until he began laying out maps and plans and routes, which he had thoroughly researched prior to his presentation. Seeing his layout, she had to admit that his strategy did seem feasible. She decided if he had done that much research already, he would certainly make it work well for them.
But even when the notion to fly around the world became an actual plan, Sherry still hesitated and agonized a bit over telling her parents, especially her mom. How could she tell them she would be flying around the world alone with her husband in a small twin engine airplane filled with fuel tanks? After some delay, she finally told her mom, Marie, who calmly responded, “Oh well, you will be with Larry and we trust him.”
