About the Author
Samuel W. Hale Jr. is a graduate of the American Baptist College in Nashville, Tennessee, and the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky. His ministerial experience spans over forty years, including more than thirty years of pastoring, teaching, missions, religious journalism, and church ministry development.
He has participated in, helped plan, observed, and officiated in hundreds of funerals, including those of his parents, grandparents, relatives, and his own son.
He lives in Springfield, Illinois, where he has served as Pastor of the historic Zion Missionary Baptist Church for over twenty-seven years. He has been married for over forty years; he is the father of four children and has seven grandchildren.
Two of his main ministry objectives are reflected in Luke 24:54 (KJV)—“Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures”—and in Matthew 28:20 (KJV)—“… teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you …”
