GOD IS IN CONTROL OF YOUR FINANCES
Don’t look at your current circumstances and think, “Well, this is it. I’m financially ruined. I’m about to lose everything I’ve been working so hard for. My house payments are falling way behind, and my car is one step away from being repossessed. Things are looking pretty bleak right now in the natural world.” You might even be thinking bankruptcy is the only way out of the mess you’re in, but wait! The world’s way isn’t God’s way. In the supernatural God is working things out if you’ll just walk by faith and not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7.
I was faced with this very situation in March of 2001 when my life as I knew it flipped upside down. I was going through an extremely painful divorce and my finances were quickly spiraling out of control.
When my husband left, he only took his clothes, leaving behind everything-else including, all the debt he had acquired. Almost everything we owned was in my name. It didn’t take long, before my phone started ringing off the hook. The bill collector’s were putting so much pressure on me. I was so scarred! I thought, “Oh Lord, what am I going to do?” I knew, I didn’t make enough money to cover everything.
REFUSING TO FILE FOR BANKRUPTCY
By June of 2001 my bills were so far behind and my back was against the wall. I had worked all the overtime that was offered and still couldn’t make ends meet. So many people kept trying to talk me into filing for bankruptcy. I had a real problem with seeing that as the solution. My spirit just wouldn’t allow me to buy into the lie that I was financially ruined. I just kept telling myself, “I serve a big God who walks on streets of gold and owns everything in this world.” Now I know in the natural world, I was a sinking ship. Time was running out for me. So, I just kept praying, and asking “God, to please make a way where there seems to be no way.” His word says, “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Romans 8:31(NKJV). Truthfully, I was really scared, but I knew my loving heavenly Father cared about every detail of my life.
THE FIRST CHALLENGE
The first big challenge I faced was trying to unload a brand new Monte Carlo car that my husband had talked me into purchasing one year earlier. He also had me put the car in my name. The payment was over $400.00 a month. I knew, there was no way I could afford to keep it. I decided to detail the car myself and put it up for sale. This wasn’t going to be easy because he had put over 60,000 miles on it, and I stilled owed $18,000.
