Parenting with a Purpose

This book is divided into six chapters. Chapter one outlines the scope of my work and provides an explanation, experience, and brief outlines on the contents of the book. Chapter two addresses the differences and the effects of both types of counseling methods (Christian versus secular) and the role each one plays when managing the outcome of the counselee’s behavior. This chapter will also explore the vital roles of Christian Counseling in the lives of people seeking to allow God to make the rough places smooth and the crooked places straight in their lives. A testimony of a single parent twice divorced will be told through the eyes her child, to give more insight on how the support of Christian Counseling can help with defining the roles of parenting. Chapter three will give a description of the biblical view and the world view of the family structure; pointing out the differences between the two and how both views affect the family and society as a whole. Chapter four will give insight on parenting and its’ purpose and responsibilities. This chapter focuses on single parenting and discusses the hardships that come with being a single parent, as well as explain how single parent homes can raise children with godly structure and principles. Chapter five will discuss some of the hurdles that parents have to go through when raising children to be godly in today’s society. The effect of the media and how it misleads, influences, and brain washes our children concerning gender identity issues and homosexuality will also be examined in this chapter. Chapter six will give and explain parenting techniques from a Christian Counseling perspective and present examples on how to teach children social skills. Excerpt from book When I was counseling children, it was often revealed that the majority of the parents were in need of counseling right along with their children. Most parents would come to that conclusion during the counseling sessions for their children. Their responsibilities as a parent would be revealed by the light of the Scriptures, and change would take place as the Holy Spirit guided and manifested His presence in their lives. Repentance, restoration, and healing would take place when all members of the family were willing to work together to get to the root of their problems as a family. God’s Word states, “Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life.” This is why my motto was birthed: “Getting to the heart of the matter.”
