For there was no others like Gabriel during the early times. I believed him to be my equal, even though I was exalted. There was a great trust put on Gabriel by the King and to that end he was given charge over many things. Gabriel also had an intelligence that was matched by few. When my eyes were finally opened, and I saw that God for who He really was, I had to take action and strike at the heart of the Kingdom. I needed Gabriel on my side in order to be victorious, and it was for that reason I first went to him with my decision.
It was cold the day I understood the truth, and I found Gabriel working dutifully alone in the palace. I approached him with trepidation and anxiety as I knew time for action was short.
“Gabriel,” I said to him as I approached. “Gabriel!” He saw me rushing towards him, and looked at me in shock.
“What has happened to you, friend?” He replied. Gabriel looked over me with great concern and consideration. “You look awful. Your eyes are red and fiery. Your light does not shine as bright. What is this that has overtaken you and caused this to happen?”
“What has happened to me I wish to also happen to you,” I said to Gabriel excitedly but quietly. “For I have discovered what the King truly is!”
“What the King truly is?” Gabriel questioned. “What are you talking about?”
“He is not the worthy King He claims to be!” I whispered as I placed my hands on his shoulders. “Gabriel, you are my friend. I know that you will hear the words that I speak to you now." I paused to catch my breath and looked Gabriel in the eyes with the hope that he would understand. "The King holds us in bondage, and that is something we must not stand for! Search yourself, Gabriel, my old friend. You know that what I say is true." Gabriel looked into my eyes but said nothing. "We must act against Him now for the sake of the Kingdom. For the sake of ourselves. We can take this Kingdom, and we can rule it wisely and justly, more so than He ever did! Search yourself, Gabriel, and know that you must agree!”
Gabriel looked at me with confusion and opposition. “Your claims,” he said with rebuke “drip with treachery. You are mislead by your own delusions. What you say is a lie, and I will have none of it! Deride what you speak and return to your station. Give those thoughts no more room. Destroy them now, my friend.”
“You must listen to me,” I shouted at Gabriel, grabbing him tightly by the arm. “I can’t do this without you!”
“You can’t do this at all,” Gabriel said gently, slowly taking my hand off his arm. “Bind up these desires. Take and confess them to the King! Confess that He might have mercy on you and what you have wrought on yourself.”
“Gabriel,” I pleaded. “You of all should know what I am saying. You are wise, and have the King’s ear. Would it be that I am speaking to the air?”
“You must stop now,” Gabriel said.
“I will never stop!” I shot back with anger.
“I grant you three days,” Gabriel said with pity as he stepped back. “Three days to correct what you have undone in yourself. If you do not, I will tell the King all you have said to me, and ask Him to allow me to destroy you myself.”
I recoiled in horror. “You would destroy me? For all time and eternity we remained friends, and now you would take pleasure in my undoing?
“You are your own undoing,” Gabriel replied. “I take no pleasure in this. But I serve only one master. You must decide who your master is.”
I was disgusted by Gabriel's attitude and rejection of the truth I had found. I left his presence swiftly while cursing the time I knew him. He had abandoned me, and with that he hurt all hope I had of overthrowing the King. But I pressed on because I knew no other way. I took the next three days to recruit others to my aide. I found a third of those around me choose to understand as I did, and together we plotted to destroy the King. We made our assault on the Kingdom, but it was short lived. We were defeated by the King whose troops were led by Gabriel. We were not destroyed, but sent out of the Kingdom, never to be allowed life there again. Exiled though I was, I never stopped plotting to overthrow the King and take the Kingdom. I never stopped preparing a way back. Today those preparations were coming to fruition.
Gabriel stared at me and I stared back at him.
“So now you come to my gates,” I said. “You will find that you are not among friends here.”
“I do not come to parse words with a fool,” Gabriel said.
“A fool?” I asked rhetorically. “The fool is the one blindly doing the bidding of another for eons. There are no fools behind my gates. There are only free beings here." I paused. "It is never too late to join us, Gabriel.”
Gabriel looked longingly at me. “You were always one of His favorites,” Gabriel reminisced. “I never understood why you choose this path.”
“That is because you are blind,” I said confidently. “Now tell me you have not come to my gates after all this time to exchange pleasantries.”
“No,” Gabriel said sadly. “I have come with a message. A message from the King.” Gabriel stopped solemnly. “It is time.”
“Good,” I said calmly as a smile crossed my face. “If that is all, then you and your trumpet boys should leave.”
“I once loved you,” Gabriel said ignoring my direction. “I was devastated when you turned. That is why I tell you this now. If you continue with your plan, it will be your undoing. You will be destroyed.” Gabriel looked me over one last time and ushered himself and his companions to leave.
I stood there, shaking my head, my eyes burning with anger. “You would threaten me on my day of triumph!?” I yelled at Gabriel as he walked away. “I swear to you, Gabriel, that when I take over the Kingdom, I will destroy you with my own two hands! Do you hear me?” I yelled as loudly as I could as my associates cowered. But Gabriel and his companions ignored me and went on their way. For they knew what was coming, and they knew nothing could stop it.
