Genesis 3:16 “Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee.” Did you ever wonder why the woman is called the weaker vessel? (1 Pet 3:7) Or why it is good not to touch a woman? (1 Cor 7:1) Or why a woman is not to teach, nor usurp authority over the man? (1 Tim 2:12) Or why the husband is the head of the wife (even as Christ is the head of the church)? (Eph 5:23) Or why it is a shame for a woman to speak in the church? (1 Cor 14:35) Or why the woman that has a husband is bound by the law to him as long as he lives? (Rom 7:2) Does anybody take these verses seriously anymore? And how we are to apply them to us today? Few are superficially practiced, like a marriage license for the “bound to her husband” verse. (Although this is going by the wayside by many) But for the most part, nobody takes these Scripture instructions to heart. It is because they are no longer spiritually understood. The evil one has “confused” mankind by diluting the real Truth of what God is teaching us here. Do you realize that if we do not follow these instructions in a marriage, we are actually hindering our prayers (or requests) to God? Even worse, we are allowing Satan to guide our marriage away from the only one who can “heal” what is needed there? In addition, we are actually “Blaspheming” the Word of God by not following what God commands from the Bible. In the Garden of Eden, God placed a curse upon the man and the woman for their disobedience. This curse or (punishment) that was given to mankind set up a spiritual authority (or a headship) for the man. At the same time it also placed the woman in a submissive role. Today, we are still under this curse, still under the “roles” assigned to the man and the woman. The questions that are raised here regarding the man and the woman can only be answered if we apply spiritual understanding of the Scriptures. Is spiritual understanding required today? We should let the Bible answer that. John 4:24 “God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.”

Are we years away from the end of time, or perhaps months? The prophetic signs of this world clearly indicate the second coming of Christ. As in the days of Noah, the marriages of the day are an indicator of this event. When God created the marriage institution, He installed spiritual roles for the man and woman. When these “roles” would reverse themselves, intervention from God always followed. This has been an established pattern all through the Bible. It first manifested with Adam and Eve in the garden. It followed the downfall of the sons of God right before the flood. And it brought judgment to Solomon shortly after he began to worship the gods of his wives. The New Testament is full of warnings to the churches about following the spiritual authority given to the man and woman. These warnings are basically ignored today. The marriage relationship, when spiritually understood, clearly prophesies that we will experience the end times during our lifetime.
