A history of one evangelical church, written from the point of view of its first long-term Pastor, this summary illustrates the challenges and victories of a small group of evangelicals in a region dominated by Roman Catholic culture. In Southcoast Massachusetts, trends in general and an evangelical presence in particular, move more slowly. However, a growing network of like-minded churches has begun to draw notice here, too, though varied by denomination and to some extent in some of the specifics of theology. Because of this, I was attracted to the possibilities of contributing to the growth of a respected church with an evangelical world-view, so near to Plymouth, the place of the nation’s beginnings. At Dartmouth Bible Church, we focus on individual discipleship, nurturing healthy families, being a blessing to the Town of Dartmouth and its university, and participating in meaningful ways with the larger, world-wide body of Christ. It has been my hope that DBC and its sister churches and ministries will continue to grow in vitality and make a good impact for the Gospel of Jesus Christ as was the vision of the founding families and church members in 1963.

About the Book
This history of one local church demonstrates the prayerful determination of its membership over five decades to craft a meaningful place of ministry in a spiritually challenging community which dates to the Mayflower Pilgrims. These members purposed to honor God by growing in their relationship with Him and one another through a balanced focus on worship, discipleship, fellowship, ministry, and evangelism. Throughout these years, ups and downs were plentiful, but God’s faithfulness and His joy were always loved by His servants at Dartmouth Bible Church. This history candidly captures those stories and turns the reader back to the Lord with thanksgiving for His loving presence among His people. Includes several appendices of historical data.
About the Author
Neil C. Damgaard has served as senior pastor of Dartmouth Bible Church for thirty years and is a double graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary (ThM and DMin). Originally from Washington, DC and an industrial engineering graduate of Virginia Tech, the author has come to love New England with all its rich heritage and spiritual challenges. He lives in New Bedford, Massachusetts, with his wife, Renée, and mini poodle, MacArthur.
