Bible Appreciation for Catholics is a new approach for introducing the Bible to anyone. Although directed primarily to Catholics, this book is also open for those who might be curious about the subject, Christian or Non-Christian. It will motivate Catholics to make the Bible a part of their lives.
The subtitle and goal of Bible Appreciation for Catholics is the 3 Ls: Learn the Bible, Love the Bible, and Live the Bible. This book begins by explaining that the Bible is a book of many smaller books. It shows the contents and how to navigate the Bible and see the contents. It offers a brief overview of the Bible as one whole story from the beginning to the end. Then it presents a brief overview of the smaller books in the Bible and how these smaller books are grouped.
Bible Appreciation for Catholics addresses and explains the meaning of "literary types" or "genre" and how that affects how we read and understand different portions of the Bible.
The book looks at the Catholic Church beliefs and teachings on Divine Revelation through brief excerpts and summaries of the chapters in the Vatican II Dogmatic Constitution on Divine Revelation.
Bible Appreciation for Catholics also offers comments on the "human side of the Bible," "women in the Old Testament," the Bible and Catholic Spirituality," "how the Bible was written," and other relevant topics.
To assist the reader, the books offers a glossary of terms and names and an index.
The reader is invited to participate in the course of the book by doing the quizes and searching the exact location of a special episode or of a famous quotation. The definition overall message of the Bible is God's constant and faithful love sStory
Bible Appreciation for Catholics addresses a number of questions and issues. Such as: why Catholics do not traditionally read the Bible, does the Bible have errors, how the Bible was written.

About the Book
Bible Appreciation for Catholics was written to invite everyone to learn about the Bible. The invitation is intended for everyone. Although directed primarily to Catholics, there are no restrictions for reading it. All Christians and all non-Christians are invited. Any motive for reading this book is fine: desire to know more about the Bible, curiosity about the title, checking it for errors and fallacies, or trying to find out why anyone would want to be stuck in the mentality of a 2,500-year-distant past. Welcome to all!
About the Author
Patrick E. Murray a native of Mississippi. In his teens, he wanted to become a Catholic priest. He entered the seminary at the high school level, studying the usual school curriculum and Latin and Greek. At the undergraduate level, he earned a BA in philosophy. Following that, at the graduate level, he focused on theology, Bible studies, and church history, earning an MA cum laude in history. He was ordained a priest for the diocese in Mississippi. After two years of parish work in Mississippi, he was one of two priests selected to work in a parish in Mexico. After four years there, he received from Rome a dispensation from the priestly ministry. He married and worked as a civilian field historian, writing history for the US Air Force. In this career, he had assignments stateside and overseas. After thirty-six years of federal civilian service, he retired. He and his wife, Julieta, live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. They have three grown children.
