There is a Gorilla in My Room and the Devil is in the Midst
Every night after I had gone to sleep, I would have a dream about a gorilla entering my room. The dream always started the same. In the dream the front door to the house was pushed opened in slow motion. It was dark outside as the door opened. As soon as it was completely open, a large black gorilla would tip toe through the house to my bedroom door. When he got to my bedroom door, he would turn the knob very slowly as I watched it turned from my bed. When I saw the knob turn, I would hide myself under the covers hoping he wouldn’t find me. I could hear his foots steps walking across the floor to my bed. Then there is silence, that terrible silence. I would hear him breathing next to my bed. As I hid under the covers, I began to sweat, I couldn’t breathe, and it got hot. When I would peep from my covers to see if the gorilla was still there, he would lurch his face into my face suddenly grueling and making terrifying facial expressions. I would quickly pull the covers back over my face hoping he would go away. The gorilla never attacked me or jumped on my bed. He just came every night to frighten me and terrorize me in fear. Every night for three years, I had this dream. However, if I were sleeping over at my cousin’s house, the gorilla didn’t come. But an evil man in a black suit would come doing the same things the gorilla did. I knew the man in the black suit was evil because when I looked into his eyes they were cold, dead, black, and they had no life or light in them. His presence felt like evil. Even as a child, no one has to tell you evil is evil when you are in its presence. You know it. Blessed for me, when I became “Born Again,” and filled with the Holy Spirit, the dreams of the gorilla ceased, but the presence of the man in the black suit continued to haunt me for a very long time in my Christian walk. After about ten years, I no longer saw the evil man standing in my room as I became stronger in God’s Word and learned who I was as a believer in Christ. I learn how to exercise my faith and use the authority and power given to me in Jesus name. I lived a clean life in Christ, not perfect, but separated; I was being perfected in Christ day by day as long as I was willing. I know some of you who are reading this book make not believe there is a devil and demons or evil spirits. I didn’t know about them as well. Just because you haven’t experienced it or seen it or know of it, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. There are many situations, laws, and principles in life that can attest to the fact of things which cannot be seen with the natural eyes but they exist such as things in the scientific field, psychological field, and mathematical field. There is a spiritual world which goes on in its activities daily as we go on with ours here in this natural world, that world interacts with our world on a daily bases as well (Read the Book of Ezekiel, Isaiah, Zachariah, Daniel and Revelation). We are spirit beings just as the God who created us is a Spirit. Jesus said God is a Spirit (John 4:24). We are spirit, soul, and body beings. God breathed into us the breath of life, that breathe is the Spirit of God, and we became a living soul in a body made from dust of the ground (Genesis 1:26, 27; 2:7). This is the world that Jesus came to make us aware of its existence (the kingdom of God). Before I knew Christ, what I knew about the devil or evil spirit was what I got from what was shown on television by Hollywood productions, how far from the truth it is. I want to encourage all of you, no matter what your age, to learn to read the Bible for yourselves. Get an education while you are in school and while it is free. Know the Lord Jesus Christ for yourself and continue to have an ongoing relationship and fellowship with Him. Grow in God’s grace and never put off what you can do for yourself to others. We have a choice. God gave it to us as a gift to mankind. Jesus talked about the devil, and He cast out evil spirit which had bound and caused sickness and disease on children as well as adults. The gorilla in my dreams was a spirit of fear which entered my dreams through the doorway of molestation by Leroy Jefferson. I didn’t have the dreams until this event happened in my life. The man in the black suit was the devil who made known to me his presence and would challenge me in my new “Born Again” experience and authority which I received after I became a child of God. When I would use my authority given to me by Jesus, the devil would just stand there smiling at me; then he would go. For a while when I would tell him to leave in Jesus Name, he would continue to resist by saying it is not working to fake me out. But I continued to speak the name of Jesus in the authority given me and he would leave. I noticed his appearances became less frequent as I became stronger in the knowledge of the Word of God and of Jesus Christ. I noted as I got stronger in knowing who I was in Christ and what authority I had in Christ, the man in the black suit went away from my presence and was not allow re-entering it. In the natural, the gorilla symbolized Leroy Jefferson. The spiritual doors in which that spirit entered my life were all closed, seal in my mind, and spirit with the precious blood of Jesus. Neither the devil nor the evil spirits had any more legal grounds to stand on for entrance because of things from my families past history or my life. Jesus came to set the captive free and give them the means to stay free. He is my hero. Read Mark 1:21-28; Matthew 4:24; 9:32-35; Luke 9:37-44; Luke 4:33-37; Mark 5:-20; Acts 16:16-18. Before I go any further, let me say that I’m not saying that everything that happens to a person or what a person cannot explain is caused by the devil, demonic activities, or evil spirits, but in my case it was as were some of the people in the Bible Jesus dealt with and later His Apostles. I know that God has a plan for my life as well as your life for His glory and so does the devil. The earlier the devil can fraught that plan through the use of using another lost soul, personal tragedies, practice of witchcraft, palm reading, voodoo, seeking to speak to the dead, cult activities, esteeming the knowledge of man’s over the Word of God, and ignorance of the knowledge of Christ the better his chases are with his evil deeds. The devil and evil spirit loves it when we are unaware of their presence or not believe that they exist. When traumatic events happen in a child life, evil spirits come to take advantage of the situation. Jesus said He saw Satan casted out of heaven as lighting fall from heaven (Luke 10:18). The Word of God says that after Jesus was led up of by the Holy Spirit into the wilderness. It was there the devil tempted Him for forty days and nights as He fast and prayed (Matthew 4:1-11). The Bible says the devil/Satan left Jesus after he ended all the temptations and departed from Him for a season (Luke 3:13-14). This is why we as parents must remain vigilant, watchful, knowledgeable of the Word of God, and filled with His Holy Spirit to pray for our children and take authority of spiritual activities concerning our children in Jesus Name. What should a parent do when their child tells them about the presence of an evil spirit in their room or a recurring bad dream or night mare? Some dreams of fear or nightmares are normal in our lives as children. They help to identify things in our subconscious that we are not able to express or aware of in our waking hours. However, as a “Born Again” believer, when dreams are of this magnitude comes; do not take it for granted that it is just a dream. Always stay on the offense and take authority over the bad dream or evil spirit in Jesus Name. There is no need to frighten your child with further fears.
