My Glorious Hope
O God of hope, I trust in You
O my loving God, I look to You

I love the One who always infuses my heart with a fresh dose of hope. His hope does not disappoint, because it is a hope rooted in His unchanging and eternal goodness, love, and wisdom. He is the God of hope.
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. (Rom 15:13, NIV; emphasis is mine)
As I fully trust in Him – that He knows what He is doing, that I shall not be in want because He loves me and is faithful in His care – not only am I filled with His joy and peace, but His hope overflows in my heart, showing on my countenance and spilling out to all those around me.
God loves to infuse hope in times where circumstances would dictate otherwise. He is glorified in His people when we, despite the dire situation we may be in, overflow with the hope that only He can give, a hope that is rooted in Him, that cannot be had anywhere else. Our hope – which is very bright indeed – is rooted in His faithfulness.
Jesus comes to bring hope where there is no hope.
“The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles— 16 the people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” (Mt 4:15–16, ESV)
He who is the light of the world brings light where there is no light, brings hope where there was no hope. When He floods our hearts with His hope, our hearts see and our imaginations are stirred, awaiting all that our loving Father and Master will bring about. Where despair ruled, Jesus brings His hope, a hope that has His love embedded in every breath.
Our hearts turn to Him, our eyes look to Him, our attention rests on Him. He is our hope, our confidence, our trust. His Spirit rises within, bringing fresh hope and His love and power to all whom we meet. As they give their hearts to Him who is the hope of all the ends of the earth, the growing chorus rises to Him who always renews hope and captures our hearts to love Him more.

About the Author
Jonathan Gale is a practicing scientist and former university chemistry professor. The oldest son of medical missionaries, he lived much of his life in Costa Rica. He now lives in Massachusetts with his wife of thirty years and their five children. As an elder of a local church fellowship, he and his wife lead a home bible study and enjoy teaching together on various aspects of our walk with God.
