CHAPTER 1
God and His Word
The affirmations in this chapter have to do with the rightful place of God and His Word in our lives. When you come right down to it, getting to know our Creator is the most important thing any of us will accomplish in this life. Doing so will yield great benefits now, as well as in the future.
But what does knowing God really involve? When our human eyes behold the wonder of the stars, the oceans, or the human body, such examples of His handiwork clearly show His power and nature. As loudly as these may speak, however no one can truly know God without knowing His Word.
We must make an investment in the Bible, God’s written revelation of Himself and His plans, if we want to build a genuine and vital relationship with Him. We learn from its pages that it’s really all about relationship, not religion. And all successful relationships in our lives, whether with God or with people, require an investment of our time, our minds and our hearts.

HENRY SYLVANUS (Hank) ALTHEIDE has been active in Christian outreach since 1976, serving in a variety of capacities, including pastor, missionary, chair mover and hamburger flipper.
