This book is a compression of the two books, God’s Book of Prayers and The Lord’s Prayers, with the added feature of stating who actually prayed the prayers in the Bible, the ‘pray-ers’. Bible Prayer Pray-ers: Be One, See All, however, only gives the references of each of the prayers in the Bible, and does not include the actual wording of the prayers, and also does not contain the concordance of all major words and phrases as found in The Lord’s Prayers edition.
More than just a book, this is God’s Very Book, mined from The Book that He Himself authorized and wrote. All that I have done (although that was quite a chore!) was extract the prayers out of His Holy Writ and place them, all of them, together into one volume.
About fifteen years ago, I wanted a book like this; however, I wanted to have it the easy way. I wanted to just go to the bookstore or online and buy it. After much searching and researching, I realized that the book just didn’t exist. I still can hardly believe that four hundred years after the King James Version was published that such a volume, listing just the prayers of the Bible, was not available. If I wanted it, I realized I would have to put it together myself. So began this project at the end of the last century. Much time and effort has passed, and at long last, each and every one of God’s Prayers are available, just the prayers, in this one handy volume before you.
Actually, there are three volumes, all of which have all the prayers of the Bible. The larger one, The Lord’s Prayers, lists all the prayers, with references, in biblical sequence and an exhaustive concordance of major and many minor words/phrases for easy reference and praying. The alphabetized Word listing also specifies which category of prayer each verse is in. A smaller edition, God’s Book of Prayers, categorizes all the prayers of the Scripture, with locations, and lists them in categorical sequence for easy reference and to be able to see each particular type of biblical prayer separated from the others.
The electronic book version of God’s Book of Prayers may also be used to search and find anything that one desires to pray about. These initial two editions exhibit some surface analysis of the prayers in the Bible through a pie chart of all the categories of the prayers, showing the breakdown of all at a glance and the percentage of each in the Bible and a bar graph showing how many prayer verses each category contains. Also included are two diagrams that show the frequency of major words in all of the prayers of Scripture, a ‘Prayer Words Cloud’, and the number of verses each word is found in, a ‘Prayer Words Wheel’.
Some will prefer this current version since it is smaller and less expensive (and available in Spanish as well), while others will prefer the convenience of the first two editions of all the prayers in the Bible. Bible Prayer Pray-ers: Be One, See All contains three lists, each having the same information albeit in differing orders. The three pieces of information consist of the individuals who prayed the prayers, the Scriptural reference of all the prayers, and the categories of prayer that each prayer belongs to, and are listed as follows:
1) Persons (the pray-ers) who prayed the Bible prayers listed in alphabetical order – new for this edition 2) Biblical order of the prayers, as in The Lord’s Prayers 3) Categorical sequence of the prayers, as in God’s Book of Prayers
The rationale and instructional guide for using the prayers of the Bible for your own prayer life can be found in the first two books; however, in staying with the condensed idea in this volume only the titles of the sections that are in the opening writing of the larger versions will be spelled out here. The section headings are...
Again, this book is a compilation of all the prayers in the Holy Bible, God’s Very Own Words, pure and plain. Just the prayers in His Holy Word extracted for our enjoyment and benefit. Compiled mostly in an effort to aid in my own prayer life, I understand it will be used in many other capacities. And although I desired to use it in my own prayer life as appropriate, I understand the potential risk of appearing to limit the infinitely limitless God of the Bible; nevertheless, I present this volume.
Everything prayed in the Bible is documented here to indicate that these Very Words of God have already been approved by God, which helps ensure that He will honor His Own Words in your life, situation, or request. The implicit limitation comes when we do not find something in the Bible or our exact need is not referred to or prayed about in Scripture. For these matters, the idea in the apostle John’s gospel John 21:25 comes into focus, “And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written.”
Also John 20:30 says, “And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book.” Many other things have been and will be prayed about that are not written of in the Bible and thus are not in this present volume; however, that lack of documentation should not reduce by one iota our faith in and belief that The God of the Bible is concerned about you and your specific prayer and that He will answer. Of course, many things mentioned in the Bible that are not in the specific context of prayer may and should be prayed about (e.g., Colossians 2:2, 6–7 with myriad etceteras). Of particular note, those that are not included herein are most of the “prayers” of the apostle Paul.
The apostle Paul and others list many things they prayed for or about; however, they were not specifically quoted in the first or second person and thus do not meet the parameters for this book, although a couple are included. For all these various things, one need only consult any complete biblical concordance. Each one of us is unique and The Lord wants to hear from each of us on all matters in our life, even more so than any earthly father. As is recorded in Psalm 40:5, “Many, O Lord my God, are Thy Wonderful Works which Thou hast done, and Thy Thoughts which are to us-ward: They cannot be reckoned up in order unto Thee: if I would declare and speak of Them, They are more than can be numbered.”
This book will only add to a host of books regarding prayer. This will differ, however, in that it will attempt to list every single prayer in the Bible, God’s Book. (If you find a reference that is not listed, please do not hesitate to contact me so I can add your newfound reference to later editions of this work. Contact me at the website www.GodsBookofPrayers.com. It is written primarily in an attempt to give you what are the exact words that God has previously approved and chosen to use and to show how to pray using those very words.
Although it was not written primarily as a reference book, there is no doubt that it will be used in that capacity; however, my hope is that its main function will be in using The Very Words of God when praying. References to prayer were gleaned by reading and perusing the entirety of the Scriptures...
The pray-er (the one praying, you) should refer to the Scripture of their translational choosing as only the prayer references are listed within this edition. In some instances, whenever the same prayers are recorded elsewhere in the Scriptures but with slight word variations, I have placed the references together. Open up your own translated Bible and pray God’s Words for yourself.
