Introduction
It has been a great journey so far. The gift of writing that God has given me made a new path for me to pursue. As always, I have had many supporters within my world of family and friends. My many interactions with those whom I have met over my military career have made impacts on my personality that I both value and will never forget.
As with any gift, now that it has been discovered, I must pay my tithe to the one who bestowed it upon me. I must give thanks to the One who has given me the opportunity to write, inspire, influence, and most importantly, serve my fellow man. With a new gift comes the responsibility to pursue a new ministry.
This book is the beginning of what will be a continuing service to my brothers and sisters in Christ. Being Christian is more than a set of rules or submission to the idea of an all-powerful deity. It is a promise to us as believers, and to our maker. It is a lifestyle that we have welcomed into our being that shapes our very essence in order to aspire to a higher purpose, a higher existence, and most importantly, a higher relationship with him. Over a Christian’s life, many challenges will be thrown at us. All believers know that this of course is not God abandoning you, but it is God giving us a number of opportunities that will grow and strengthen our relationship. In the end, it is God who sees us through all.
Unfortunately, we create many barriers for ourselves in our walk with the Lord. These barriers have many names, like arrogance, selfishness, doubt, and temptation. One thing I have noticed in my life, and the lives of others, is that even those of us who have unbreakable faith can create a barrier that we can easily avoid. The barrier I speak of is knowledge of the Bible. This book, and those to follow, is my attempt to educate in an artistic way. This first book in the series is modeled after Genesis. I by no means feel that my poems can substitute for the Word of God in any way. My hope is that through art, everyone who reads the words to follow will be blessed and educated with the glory and wisdom that God intended us to have when he created it.
So I invite you to enjoy this different take on my poetry style. This departure from my book Echoes of Thought is meant to start a new series of art. I hope that you enjoy this work. Let it bless you and those around you who read along.
