RESPONSES FOR DAY ONE
1. What have you seen in God's world that is awesome?
2. Do you sense a motivation to watch for more of God's glory In nature?
(1) The Beginning
God: This will be the beginning of the existence of the heavens and the earth. It doesn’t look like much right now. There is no form and it is dark because the water does not reflect any light.
Spirit of God: I am here over the waters to bring forth what We have decided.
God: The first thing I want is light. I say, “Let there be light!” This light is very good, but I think there should still be some darkness. I will separate them. “Day” seems a good name for the time of light. We will call the darkness “Night.”
Spirit of God: That was a good first day. Since the darkness was here first, we will start each day with evening. The dark is approaching.
God: On this second day We will make a separation between waters, called an expanse, to separate waters above and those below. The upper part will be called “Sky.”
Spirit of God: It has been good this second day also. We have much left over water. What shall we do with it?
God: We are not done with this day yet. We will gather the left over water into one place. It will be amazing what we see then. See! Dry ground has appeared.
Spirit of God: It was a good day. I like the look of the dry ground. The names we chose seem good also. “Land” is dry ground and “Seas” are the waters we have gathered.
God: I am telling the land to bring forth vegetation. It will be like the bursting forth of plants everywhere. There will be many kinds, each with its own seed. Some will be trees to produce fruit.
Spirit of God: I now pronounce the third day a complete success? What will we do on day four?
God: Do You remember when we made day and night? I now want to give them signs to mark seasons and days and years. These lights will be in the expanse. They will give light to the earth. There will be a greater light for the day and a lesser one for the night.
Spirit of God: This will be different from the first light we called forth. Will we name these lights? Oh, there are many lesser lights: I can’t even count them.
God: The lesser lights are stars. The others will be named later.
Spirit of God: I think we’ve outdone ourselves. This fourth day has been spectacular.
God: I am going to make living creatures, some for the water, some for the sea, and some for the land. I want them to increase and fill all earth, and seas. Some will be on earth, but will also fly up into the sky.
Spirit of God: These creatures surely are lively. They are a little hard to track. But they have made day five most enjoyable.
God: The land is not yet full, so I will create animals for livestock, ground creatures, and wild animals.
God: Have we forgotten that we have a co-creator? He is the Word. Later John will say that through Him all things were made (John 1: 3). He will become like the man we have created. He will have flesh. He will also be other than man. He will be the God-man. We are “God in three Persons.”
Spirit of God: Yes, we are. “A Blessed Trinity!” We have been speaking as if we were two different persons. We know the third, the Son, is also one with us.
God—We are Three in One: All this is very good!

About the Book
The beginning of all beginnings is proclaimed in Genesis. God began by creating the physical world and people with spiritual qualities (soul and spirit).
Genesis becomes part of the discipline of Bible reading and study begun by many each new year. “Why not start at the beginning?” we ask.
With that desire in place, my husband and I picked The Daily Bible In Chronological Order 365 Daily Reading’s (TDB).
I spent extra time searching out the words of God, which contributed part of the title for my book, GOD SAID IT… The expanded title, by adding A THIRTY-DAY JOURNEY, became the impetus for an expanded devotional based on God’s words and topics selected from them.
God’s highest creation, man––including woman––spent their first day resting along with their creator. WOW! Wouldn’t you have liked to hear the conversation between them? It was Creator to created, Father to child.
CONVERSATIONS are imaginary words of God as He and the people of Genesis interact. The journey of God’s children developed into history—His story. It is also the story of those who would be called God’s chosen people--the Jews. Some conversations extolled characteristics of “heroes of the faith” mentioned in Hebrews eleven.
About the Author
Ethel Green spent sixteen years in public education and approximately fifty years assisting her husband in pastoral ministry, acquiring a passion for Bible study.
Ethel graduated from Eastern Nazarene College (B.S. elementary education), and the University of Southern Maine (M. S. exceptionalities). The Greens have three daughters.
