Understanding is to perceive the meaning of, to take as fact, to learn, to know the nature or character of, to have comprehension and to be informed and believe. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 4:7 NIV) Our wisdom and understanding comes from God through The Holy Spirit. It is through God’s word alone that we will understand the perfect will of God through Christ Jesus. If the understanding is coming from God then His peace will come with it. The Holy Spirit is our helper who guides and teaches us the wisdom of God as we surrender ourselves wholly to the power of God. Overflowing with the Holy Spirit the wisdom of God abounds and the understanding, wisdom and knowledge of God freely flows to all those around us. God is infinite and His wisdom never ends. Our finite minds will always be learning and growing more in the wisdom, knowledge and the understanding of God’s ways. There will never be a time on this earth or in the afterlife when we can say I know it all. Every time we study the word of God we will learn more. When you read and study the scriptures you should look at them with an eager heart to learn more even if you have studied a certain book or scripture before. You should always go to the scriptures expectant to gain new insights and revelation into God's word. You should not be in fear of reading the scriptures although you may not understand all that you are reading at first no one does; however, God did not intend for His word to be a mystery. As with any learning you will continue to build on previous teaching pressing forward to learn more always. The understanding continues to come as you build on what you have previously learned.
