ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First and foremost, I give thanks to the almighty God and honor to Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for me. Therefore, I acknowledge my appreciation and adoration to GOD in the name of Jesus Christ with a commitment of ninety percent of the net proceeds of each book sold toward the following areas of contribution. The mentioned proceeds will go towards sharing of the word and love of Christ; advocating and support of child adoption; shelters for victims of domestic violence; and to college scholarship funds for surviving children of fallen United States Soldiers, Police Officers, Corrections Officers and Firefighters. Second, I give thanks to my beautiful wife of twenty four years for her support and encouragement; to my father in-law and mother in-law for the often life and family counsel; to my brothers- in-law and sisters-in-law for their encouragement; to my daughter and son who has made me time and time again proud to be called their father. To my mother, I give thanks for her unconditional love and sacrifice. Mom, I love you. To my earthly father, I give thanks and admiration for his courage to connect with Christ and to, not only be my father, but also my brother in Christ. Dad, I love you. Third, I give great thanks and appreciation to the Senior Preacher; the Leadership Team; and the brothers and sisters of my home church and to those of the greater church. Finally, but never least, to whom, I have a great bond and appreciation, I give thanks to my fellow brothers and sisters in uniform.
PREFACE
We all have purpose in life whether it is to exist to die or exist to live. It is what we do with that life before we die is the question. We can search for the answer for a second or for all of the days of our life, but if we are looking in the wrong places or asking the wrong question (s) we probably will never find the answer to the question. And if one does find the answers to these thought provoking questions, will the answer (s) fill the void that provoked the question from the get go? Or will there be a question to take the place of the first and elusive answer that one may have or may not have found the resolution? The answer to my question had become revealed to me in Jesus Christ during and subsequent to a few emotional cataclysmic events in my life. And it was in HIM that my purpose for life existed, not because I was born of my father and mother, but it was because I was born a creation of the Creator in a realm of sin so that I can find my way home while serving the Creator in peace with HIS grace. But before finding my way there, it is to serve, protect and to lead the weak of whom I join the ranks that I strive to continue the walk with HIM. It is to serve HIM and protect them so that he/she may grasp his/her strength that is in the purpose of God. God gives every person attributes, gifts, and talents that he wills upon them so that he/she may use and return these instruments for HIS glory. No matter whether the attribute is compassion, the gift is the worldly wealth, talent, or the worldly profession that HE has commissioned upon us for His glory, from my perspective and experience, HE expects us to use these blessings to serve others in HIS name. It is said in the scriptures, "There are different kinds of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are different kinds of service, but the same Lord. There are different kinds of working, but the same God works all of them in all men" (1 Corinthians 12:4-6). In addition to fruitful talents, can the fruit of ones suffering be used for the glorification of God? If Jesus Christ is to be perceived as the pattern, I say yes. So, not only can others be guided by the strengths of our talents, but also in the strengths of our weaknesses and sufferings. Therefore, it is through these, I pray and share my experiential encounter with Christ with others. Today, I share my encounter with Christ subsequent to my new found love, hope and ultimate peace in HIM so that others may find the same. This writing is not meant to press my views upon the reader, but to share my experience and relationship with Christ as it relates to my struggle through a sinful life as I strove to become accountable to God through Jesus Christ and HIS empowerment that facilitated me to serve in HIS name as a public servant (police officer) and an aspiring Christ follower. All this can apply to any person, servant, public servant, or aspiring Christ follower who seeks to know the peace in Christ. I challenge the reader to allow him or herself to know the peace in Christ or a peace that he or she may have never known before by seeking Jesus Christ in the Holy Bible that is suggested as a source to be read coupled with the text to follow.
