CHAPTER ONE:
Welcome To Biblical Entrepreneurship
Welcome to David’s 400 Battle Plan and Biblical Entrepreneurship. You now hold the tools to help navigate through the crossroads of your life and your new business. You are about to embark in a learning experience that may very well oppose everything you’ve already learned according to the world’s perspective for a successful business. “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways, says the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways and My thoughts than your thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8-9)
What does this mean to you and me?
There is a way that seems right to a man (Proverbs 14:12). But, the Lord who sits in the heavens laughs at man’s plans (Psalm 2:4). How much better would it be if our so-called plans aligned with God’s perfect will for our life? David’s 400 Battle Plan is about bridging these two chasms together.
Before King David officially took office, he had many lessons to learn about running a kingdom according to God’s plan. King Saul, David’s predecessor, may have been the people’s choice, but the Scriptures tell us that David was God’s choice, for he was a man after God’s own heart (Acts 13:22). When David was on the run from King Saul, he took refuge in a cave called Adullam. It was there that, “Everyone who was in distress, everyone who was in debt, and everyone who was discontented gathered to him. So he became captain over them and there were about 400 men with him.” (1 Samuel 22:2)
Under King David’s leadership, this ragtag group of men accomplished many great exploits for the kingdom of God. Wouldn’t you like to tap into some of their strategic plans for yourself and for your business? Well, you can... It’s time for God’s battle plan, and the model of David’s 400.

Biblical Entrepreneurship
There are many rewards to starting your own business. To be successful you must be prepared, count the costs and move forward in faith regardless of the field you choose.
“For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it...” -Luke 14:28-32
Entrepreneurship Defined
What does it mean to be an entrepreneur? Wikipedia defines entrepreneurship as “one who undertakes innovations or starts a new organization or revitalizes mature organizations, generally in response to identified opportunities.” Dictionary.com defines entrepreneur as “a person who organizes and manages any enterprise, especially a business.” We define it as “the willingness to take the initiative plus the necessary risks involved to start, organize and manage a business based upon faith.”
What Makes Entrepreneurs Successful?
The definition of success is different for all of us. For some, success is defined by money, cars, houses or lots of toys. Others define it by their accomplishments, or by the number of relationships forged. Maybe you define it by new found freedom of time, or perhaps by your ability to give back to others or to your community? Regardless of how you define success, all genuine entrepreneurs possess the following traits.
Commitment
An entrepreneur will make a commitment to the success of his or her business. They will carry the desire to take on responsibilities and see that things get done. They will overcome objections and find the appropriate means to complete the task at hand. The heart of a true entrepreneur is willing to commit his time, his talents, his treasures, his temple and his thoughts into what he believes to be a successful opportunity.
Leadership
Leaders have the ability to inspire and encourage others to reach the objectives set forth in front of them. They are good communicators and good delegators. They are willing to make decisions and accept the consequences. In order to successfully lead, you must first be able to follow; and in order to be of authority, you must also be under authority. A good leader leads by example.
Faith
Faith is the key to the success of every entrepreneur. Starting any new endeavor requires faith. Faith is an action based upon a belief sustained by sure confidence. Faith is the confident belief in what you are about to embark on before you see the manifestation of that thing or that endeavor come to pass. Without faith it is impossible to succeed in any forward motion and without faith it is impossible to please God (Hebrews 11:6). Faith is more than just believing, it is acting upon that belief... action that is motivated by the confidence that God has placed in you by His Word. Try remembering it by this simple acronym. ABC: Action + Belief + Confidence = Faith!
Battle Plan Blueprint
God’s Word is packed full of plans and prints for conducting battle, not just literally on a battlefield, but for the spiritual battles that all believers face: otherwise known as “WARFARE.” What soldier goes into battle without being properly equipped? Perhaps, only the foolish one!
