“Let’s Chat”-Healthy Relationships Do you have friends that celebrate you?

Have you ever called someone to share your excitement with them about something great that happened to you or someone close to you, and the person you called was not excited about the blessing? Let’s say they showed no interest in the conversation by not responding at all to your news. You noticed this but wondered to yourself why? And now you are wondering if you will share with them again. Well, if a person is showing happiness and rejoices about your success and blessing then they are celebrating you. And I would think this is a type of person that can be good to your future in a healthy relationship. However, they also need to be honest with you about situations and tell you things you don’t want to hear but is in your best interest. That’s a friend. In a healthy relationship one may find these areas to be relevant: love, joy, peaceful, goodness, faithfulness, patience, kindness, gentleness and self-control. These are characteristics that are great for healthy relationships. Other good behaviors that are healthy for relationships are trustworthiness, communication, commitment, decisiveness, compassion and respect. I believe they help develop the connection between people needing people. Through this conversation in the book we will recognize some signs to look for in a healthy relationship. Come along with me as we discuss those topics that some youth say tend to be matters in their everyday life through poetry. These topics are subjects that youth may deal with on a regular basis. It is put in poetry form to ease some of the sensitivity, hurt, pain, frustration and irritation of the subject matter. However, the issues are to be taken very seriously because our youth matter and we want the circumstances to be addressed, dealt with and broken hearts healed so they can move on with their life purpose.
