There are four atmospheric seasons in the year and each one has its own special purpose in the creator’s plan, as He reveals himself to mankind and to nature itself. We have Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall. Different seasons that come at different times and bring different things with them. Let’s take a divinely inspired look at each one as we discover how to enjoy the season we are in. WINTER - Low Temperatures
Many people try and avoid cold weather. Some even move from place to place to avoid the below freezing temperatures. However, did you know that cold weather is vitally important to controlling the insect population so that they don't destroy our agricultural system. Imagine what life would be like if our crops and fields were destroyed and we had no vegetation. We could easily encounter a famine in our land. Many people could lose their lives as a result. It could also lead to higher incidents of crime and violence.
Divine Viewpoint Life Application
In this life there are times when God has to lower the temperature enough to keep issues and situations and circumstances from destroying the things that are of the most value to us. Some things creep into our lives un-noticed and if God doesn’t lower the temperature they will over populate and kill our joy, our dreams and aspirations. Don’t run from the low temperature season in your life, welcome it, appreciate it, for it will help guard the things of value in your life. Thank God for freezing out the critters that have the potential of over populating and destroying valuable and much needed things in our lives.
OTHER SEASONS REVEALED - Silence
Silence is defined as absence of any sound or noise; stillness. Absence or omission of mention, comment, or expressed concern. It is the state of being forgotten; oblivion. It is concealment; secrecy.
This season is perhaps one of the most difficult seasons because it is a time when we hear nothing from God. We learn that between the close of the Old testament and the opening of the New Testament, there was about a 400 year gap. Silence, no word from the lord and no open vision. As a pastor, we never want to be in a place where God stop speaking to us about the direction and focus he desires for His church or for our ministry as a whole. Just the thought of God being silent can place a dark cloud over your head. Fear can easily creep in and “set up shop”, if you will. But I have come to learn that the silence of God is a blessing to man. God will never be silent when He should be speaking and He will never speak when He should be silent. God is omniscient (all knowing) and His understanding is too great for the finite minds of man to comprehend. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. The distance between the two are colossal. In our silence, we can hear and understand the silence of God.
