FOREWORD
Dr. Fred Christian has done a great service to those who are students of eschatology. He compares the Traditional dispensational view, the Reformed covenant view and the Progressive dispensational view in a way that is thorough, understandable, and helpful.
Dr. Christian goes into great detail discussing each view, speaking on its origin and its key points of emphasis. He gives the most thorough treatment I have read in recent years.
This delightfully helpful book shows how each view came about, and what its key exegetical points are. He correctly points out that the Traditional dispensational view most consistently follows the proper grammatical-exegetical method of interpretation. He also indicates that the other views lean upon allegorical interpretation and taking verses out of context.
Of course not all will agree with Dr. Christian’s conclusions. One does not have to agree with them all in order to be helped by this excellent work. I will have it on my shelf as a ready source to consult in matters of dispensational eschatology.

About the Book
The late twentieth century witnessed a shift in the thinking and teaching of theologians on how to “rightly divide the word of truth (II Tim. 2:15)”. This trend is continuing in the twenty-first century and is now being strenuously promoted by those who vehemently oppose traditional dispensational teaching.
The greatest challenges to traditional Dispensational Theology in this present hour come from those who espouse the teachings of Reformed Covenant Theology and what has become known as Progressive Dispensationalism. The problem stems from the fact that there are some misconceptions about dispensational teaching that need to be addressed and some weaknesses concerning opposing viewpoints that need to be exposed. This challenge is not being vigorously confronted in the present hour because of the popularity and prominence of those who espouse these theologically divergent systems and the reluctance of the proponents of dispensationalism to be labeled as divisive or fanatic.
About the Author
Dr. Fred Christian is the Senior Pastor of the Big Bottom Missionary Baptist Church in Charleston, West Virginia. He did his undergraduate work at the West Virginia Institute of Technology and Liberty University. He also holds a Master of Ministry degree from Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Bible and Theology from Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport, Louisiana.
