Fed By the Spirit

The Quiet Voice

My life was falling apart with pieces scattered all around.
I was tired of my struggles but could not lay them down.
My strength was gone and weariness had over taken my soul.
I felt alone and rejected in the life I’d come to know.

I thought I was abandoned and my despair always showed.
I did not understand the source of my sorrow and woe.
In a moment of desperate anguish I screamed at the Lord.
Self pity overwhelmed me and I wept all the more.

When my well of tears ran dry, the silence was loud.
My spirit sank lower and I felt thoroughly cowed.
There was no reason for my existence, or so I thought.
I didn’t have a clue where to find the peace I sought.

I had yet to discover Christ would intercede for me.
All I knew was the pain I felt and I wanted some relief.
I heard a faint whisper in the aftermath of my self-loathing.
I thought it was my name which had been softly spoken.

Quietly I waited and my name was gently voiced again.
My attention began to focus on the words being said.
“You are my child and I have a special plan laid out for you.
But you must trust in Me, there is much we will do.”

His voice continued to speak and I listened with my heart.
I shifted my focus from me to Him and the healing was started.
God gave me what I needed in His love and His grace.
With Him and through Him, there was nothing I could not face.

Once there was a deep tiredness way down in my bones.
But I am renewed in spirit since I became one of God’s own.
My mind, body, and soul were wearied, worn and spent.
Then I gave Him my weakness and He gave me His strength.
