God’s purpose is defined as His intention, will, and plans for your life. The journey to your purpose must begin with the realization that God has created you with a purpose. This book was written with the intent of dealing with one profound question that I believe everyone at some point, asks: “What is my purpose in life?”
Your purpose is not lost, so you can’t find it by searching! God has to reveal to you His purpose for your life, and He’s the only one who can. This journey will challenge you to explore the many areas of your life that may prevent you from discovering and walking in God’s purpose for you. Walking this path requires that you evaluate your spiritual heart, explore intimacy with God, and be willing to encounter the “warmth of God’s love.” It is critical to address any issues that may be preventing you from embracing your purpose, including inadequacy, insecurity, inferiority, guilt, shame, rejection, setbacks, hurt, pain, bad relationships, abuse, sin, pride, and a damaged heart. God loves you regardless of what you have or have not done. He will go the extra mile for you because you are valuable to Him. Not walking in God’s purpose will place you in a state of “wandering.”
Your true purpose has nothing to do with what you think you are good at doing, or what brings you the most joy or popularity. In fact, it has absolutely nothing to do with you. When God created you, He intentionally formed you with a thought and purpose in mind. The purpose is all His, it doesn’t belong to you. The question becomes: Are you willing to allow Him to display His purpose to the world through you? Our purpose is intended to be a blessing to the Kingdom of God and to others. Have you placed your needs before God’s desires? Are you living for God or for yourself? Do you invite God to join you in your own agenda only when it is convenient for you?
If the youths of this generation are to discover their purpose, a decision must be made: Will they serve money, music, or God? It is God’s desire that we become detached from the love of money—a controlling spirit that has invaded our hearts and diminished our focus on Him. The airwaves are contaminating young people’s minds with music designed to promote a secular and sometimes even demonic agenda and steer them away from their destiny.
This journey will reveal the importance of taking care of your spiritual heart. It is the heart—one of God’s most important treasures—that reveals your true intent toward Him. There are many issues that can damage your heart or cause it to be unhealthy which we normally disregard. A healthy “spiritual heart” is the key element in discovering your purpose. The healthier your spiritual heart is, the greater your connection with God, and the greater your heartbeat for Him will be. Discovering God’s purpose for you begins by entering into an intimate relationship with Him.
On this journey of connecting with God in an intimate way, one must begin to inquire about who God is, what He does, how He thinks, and what He desires. An intimate relationship with God means becoming spiritually connected with Him. Oneness with God is not superficial or emotional. It is your spirit connecting with the Spirit of the living God. This close relationship with God will be evident through your actions.
When one has suffered from a wounded heart and your spirit has been crushed, what is needed for restoration? The “warmth of God’s love” is the only answer for these conditions. Only He knows what you need to become spiritually functional again. He cares about you deeply and will provide you with what you need for healing and restoration. But first, to become healthy and whole, you must fully receive the warmth of His love. God’s love is not meant to appease man nor is it based on what man wants—it is based on who God is and on what man needs.
