Dad’s Next New Home

I witnessed God’s grace and strength during the hardest days of my life. I am just an ordinary person that does not have any special talent. I simply wanted to shout to the world what our God can do for us. I was afraid to write this book, afraid of failure and criticism from people. I had this feeling inside and I tried to reason it away. I would close my eyes to sleep, it was there, and when I would wake up it was still there.

Encouragement came in many different ways to help me along the way. One of the ways was a picture of Jesus knocking on the door. My dad bought it over fifty years ago. On the back of the picture was my mom’s name and my name written by dad. I remember seeing the picture hang in our home many years ago. It had been sitting in a drawer for years. My sister called and ask me if I wanted it and I said yes. She dropped it off at my house that very day. I had not thought of or saw that picture for so many years. I thought to myself that He wanted me to answer the knock on the door. I never want to face Jesus and tell him I was too afraid to answer.

One morning I woke up suddenly and said to my husband, God spoke to my heart last night and said ‘Someday someone will pick up your book and know that you lived through this and that I am Real. That was another wonderful affirmation for me.

In addition, for months while I was writing, a red cardinal tapped on the windows almost daily. To our family a red bird meant something good was about to happen. We have lived here almost twenty years and rarely saw a red bird, let alone tap on the windows daily. I took it as a sign of encouragement from God to keep on moving forward.

He led us through the darkest days of our lives. Into the journey, we must all take one day. He opened our hearts and eyes as we all gathered for dad.

For His glory, I will tell this story.
