A Guide to a Man’s Spiritual Health
So much emphasis in today’s society is on a man’s physical strength. The ability to lift heavy loads, be tough, be macho, and endure seems to be what’s expected of men. So many commercials tout performance-enhancing drugs, all of which are directed toward the psyche and physicality of men. As men, we need to be more concerned about our health, not just our physical strength. This book is an attempt by the author to illuminate the readers about the relevance and salience of a man’s spiritual health and fortitude, as men we are called to be the spiritual caretakers of our homes and families by leading them in the tenets of our faith it is impossible to do this without a strong grasp of the fundamental beliefs of the Bible.
The book was not written by a physician but by a clergyman who is concerned about the spiritual component of all humanity, I am convinced that God has called men to be Priest, Protectors, and Providers, for our family and friends. As Priest, we are called to lead our families in prayer, take our families to church, and allow our families to watch us participate in active ministry, teaching, volunteering, and mentoring other young men in our churches and communities. As Protectors, we have been assigned by God to serve as watchmen on the wall to alert the city of impending danger as did the prophets of old and to pray unusual and demonic spirits away from those we love, and from where we live. As Providers, our duty is to provide for our children and families spiritual and physical inheritances and provide others with our examples of men with disciplined prayer lives and balanced moral lives.
All of this causes the author to ask, is there a synergy between a man’s physical and spiritual relationship? The author would argue to the affirmative it is no coincidence that hospitals, convalescent facilities, treatment centers, and other places of therapy and recovery have chaplains, many of whom are full-time because there is a connection between prayer and medicine, religion and faith. Countless testimonials from parishioners who have been diagnosed by doctors with incurable illnesses but who prayed to God and over time were miraculously healed. Many doctors are keenly aware of power that is higher and stronger than medicine, and because of that knowledge, it’s common for doctors to ask patients about their faith lives and the support systems they might provide in times of crisis.
More and more physicians and nurses concur that prayer, meditation, regular church attendance, and consistent readings of the Bible are benefits to health that medicine, science, and any other medicinal influences cannot explain. With this in mind the author has written a number of sermons, essays, inspirational writings, and prayers that are directed to men; these writings will equip men with the spiritual tools that will compel him to hunger and thirst for righteousness and encourage them to consider their faith, spirituality, and overall prayer life, for the health of a man begins with his spiritual health, for we understand that good spiritual health begins with an internal conversion that will ultimately cleanse from the inside out. This is a book that will illuminate men’s inner beings, inspire their faith, and ignite revolutions in their hearts that will alter the way they love their families and treat humankind, this book will encourage not just men but all readers to follow the path of Jesus lest we die from malnourishment.
