The Road Trip of Life

2 Timothy 3:15-17 All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

Road trip! For those who love adventure, the act of jumping into the car and taking off to a faraway destination brings thoughts of excitement and intrigue. Some people want to be more precise and plan every moment, path, and stop along the way. For older folks, we remember getting out the map and planning and marking the route. Today’s technique can mean hopping into the car and entering the destination address into the GSP and then following the directions given by an unknown voice on an unknown route.

On the “road trip” of life we can experience the same adventure but often find out we need detailed and certain instructions to find our way, especially if we are to follow in God’s route and not that of the world.

Paul, in speaking to his “adopted” son Timothy, reminds us that Scripture is the best road map for life. Scripture emanates from God and is useful to teach us everything we need to know. It guides us, teaches us, corrects us, encourages us and leads us to God. Similar to GPS, He is unseen but His voice is not unknown. We need nothing more for the road trip of life than to follow Him.
