My reason for writing this book is to educate and encourage those who profess leadership in God’s modern-day church to take a closer look at how they are structuring their respective churches and/ or specific ministries, facilitate a greater understanding of how to draw closer to God in a spiritual community that aspires to share the same endeavor, help those who are lost find salvation, and support those who have found their hope in God as they stay faithful and resolute.
I will attempt to explain in simple, pragmatic terms and examples how to build an understandable, spiritual and social infrastructure which a church or specific ministry can build upon for greater effectiveness and fruitfulness.
Those leaders who allow themselves to be challenged and encouraged by this writing will find a number of ministry myths dispelled so that leading no longer has to be an issue of luck or walking in the dark. Many ministers who themselves are untrained for the work they are commissioning send others out with little more than “a hope and a prayer” that the novice will succeed in a place of ministry he or she has no idea what to do with. For those with a heart to learn and be challenged (Acts 17:10-12), this writing is for you.
I have also written this work as a guide and reference tool usable as subjectively as you like based entirely on your specific situation. This is not a “how to” or “paint by the numbers” book of ministry that addresses every problem and answers every question. The purpose of this writing is to facilitate, for you the reader, a greater understanding of the “process” that your endeavors toward ministry will need to undergo. In essence, I am—metaphorically speaking—giving you a lump of clay: providing you with some simple tools and perspectives and letting you come up with the shape and design.

About the Book
This book is not a “how to” or “paint by the numbers” handbook on small-group ministry. This is more of a formalization of a journal of experiences and my thoughts of them in nearly three decades of helping and leading small-group ministries. This book was written in a more general fashion to give the reader more of a sense of freedom to interject his or her own thoughts on how to incorporate many of the examples and ideas presented here.
About the Author
In over twenty years of being a part of building dynamic ministries of all sizes and functionalities, I had a lot to say and even more to share. One of my most inspiring memories was being a part of a lukewarm church of less than four hundred members, which eventually grew to over several thousand in attendance on any given Sunday, inside of ten years!
I was part of a church-planting movement that planted well over two hundred churches in thirty years, with tens of thousands of faithful members worldwide.
I am currently enjoying more of a consultant role here with my family in central New York. I am still dreaming and working toward ministries growing internally as well as externally. To God be the glory!
