We were made for God’s pleasure. Think about that for a minute. The one and only Supreme Being—Creator of all things—created us to be the focus of His love! He loves us and desires a relationship with us. Can you really imagine that?
Rahab realized she had been living a terribly sinful life and questioned if Yahweh could care about someone like her; after all, she had lived only to please herself, not caring about others. (Rahab, My Story, page 13.)
Have you ever wondered if there was more to life? What is the purpose of life? Maybe you believe that God loves only good people? You know the ones I am talking about—the ones who are pictured on the covers of magazines and nominated for very special prestigious awards.
Look at all of the amazing people in the world, I would think. People who feed the hungry, people who build homes for the homeless, people who stand for worthy causes, people who save lives, people who fight to keep our country free, and people who share the love of the true God all around the world with those who worship pagan gods.
Oh, how small I felt. I could not measure up to all of the heroes in the world. So, my thinking was that God loves those worthy people—not useless insignificant people—like me.
Let’s look as some Scriptures that will help us to understand how God views us.
Scriptures to consider:
Romans 3:10-12 As it is written; ________is righteous, no, not one; ____ ______ understands; ____ ______ seeks for God. _____ have turned aside; together they have become worthless; ____ ______ does good, _____ ________ ______.
Romans 3:23 For ______ have ____________ and fall short of the glory of God.
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is __________, but the free gift of God is ___________ ________ in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Matthew 7:7-8 _______, and it will be given to you; ________, and you will find; __________,
and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks ________________, and the one who seeks
__________, and to the one who knocks it will be ____________.
John 3:16 For God ____ __________ the __________, that he ________ his only ________,
that whoever ________________ in ______ should not ____________ but have_____________
_________.
God so loves us, not just loves us. If we have been blessed with children, grandchildren, or someone special in our lives, how do we say we love them? To emphasize how much we love them, might we say, "“I so love my child or grandchild, or I love them so much?"
”
God is telling us how much He loves us, not that He just loves us.
When we turn from our former ways and become followers of our amazing God, we see things in life differently. We will understand the hurt and confusion in others more clearly, because we were hurt and confused before, too. We will understand that believing in God helps to mend hurts and alleviate confusion. We will understand that sometimes hurt people... hurt people. It is a journey we take from sinfulness to faithfulness; from looking through our eyes to looking through the eyes of God; from having a world view of things to having a biblical view of things. We experience a transformation that abundantly blesses our lives in many ways and glorifies God.
