Humans tend to view evidence in a way that favors their beliefs. That which does not agree with one’s feelings and conclusions is dismissed while evidence they believe lends support to their assumptions is overemphasized. That is our nature.
Someone once oberved that, “a mind is like a parachute, it works best when opened.” Things are what they are, despite our feelings or need to have them be otherwise. Yet, with little or faulty information we make vital decisions concerning the most fundamental and profound aspects of our existence and purpose, and then close our minds to further and conflicting evidence. This human nature prompted Herbert Spencer to make this statement: “There is a principle which is a bar against all information, which is proof against all arguments and which cannot fail to keep man in everlasting ignorance – that principle is contempt prior to investigation.”
This is done based upon sevaral factors including outside influences, what we have been exposed to, and our feelings or views about the way we believe reality should be. Various influences and information from different sources have led to these feelings and views, but these do not alter what is actually true. We may or may not be correct. However, feelings and beliefs do not alter reality.
Few individuals devote sufficient time and effort to actually delve into that which will answer the most fundamental questions affecting human existence, and the reason we have an individual life and such unique consciousness. Nevertheless, we decide what reality is based upon what we want or feel it should be.
All of us are ultimately faced with two opposing propositions both of which are nearly impossible to fully grasp. One view held by some is that we exist for no purpose. We are here only as a result of a cosmic castrophe (“Big Bang”) and its unfolding aftermath, completely absent of an intelligent force or God. This view concludes that we are, in essence, merely an enigma briefly existing in the vastness of endless time and space. Given how infinitely tiny we are in comparison to eternity and endlessnes, the belief is that it renders us no more than a barely imperceptable blip on a massive screen where the movie continues on without us. In essence, we show up ever so briefly as a mere spec, and then just dissolve and disappear. There is no purpose to any of it.
The other proposition is that an unseen Creator is behind the existence of everything, including us. We exist for a purpose, and our unique spirits or souls (the “I am” within us) will not vanish when our physical bodies die and deteriorate out of existence. Our soul or that individual and unique spirit existing within our bodies does not go out of existence, but continues to exist apart from our physical bodies, just as it did prior to our existence here.

This book examines the most cutting-edge scientific discoveries of our time, including the confirmation of the Higgs boson particle (or field) which has been described as more notable and important than Einstein’s Theory of Relativity. This pursuit was undertaken by the author acting as investigator and examiner of the evidence presented by scientists. This leads the reader to a conclusion as to whether or not the apparent “instructions” imbedded into the Higgs boson particle, and the atoms it creates, along with all matter coming into existence, are the products of intelligent design or, on the other hand, occur by accident (“Big Bang”). Readers are informed and highly enlightened regarding the components and workings of the universe, Earth and human origins.
About the Author
David Peterson practiced law on the Central Coast of California from 1976 until he became a full-time mediator obtaining a Master’s (MDR) and advanced law degree (LLM) in mediation from Pepperdine University School of Law, Straus Institute, in Malibu, where he is adjunct professor. His law practice included litigation and trial work. As a mediator he has assisted parties in litigation reach settlements. The author received awards and recognition from courts and peers for this work. His background, which involves careful scrutiny of evidence presented to him to prove something to be factual, is what he utilized in this book. His love and passion for science and law compelled this author to apply both in delving into the most current and mystifying scientific discoveries and how these relate to human origins. His ability to write at the level of average readers allows those who are not scientifically inclined to grasp even the most complex of these discoveries, including the recent, profound discovery of the all-powerful and encompassing Higgs boson (“God particle”). David Peterson is an avid kayaker, surfer, boater and explorer of nature. He is father of four and grandfather of nine children. His hope and expectation is that all readers come to understand the origins of their existence.
