It was a young heaven. The world that was being forged by the Whistler was a place that looked out to the stars, but the stars could not look back. There is a story that begins here. The truth goes back even further.
The firstborn has a dim glow, but it is easy to spot being the only star in a vast and empty universe. Soon the first becomes accompanied by hundreds of stars. What was once a novelty, outshines the newer ones. The original illuminates even greater, casting a shadow over the other stars circling it.
The shadow proves to be a black hole that opened up, swallowing the vehement star. It vanishes, as the fertile night now has one less ornament. The shadow diminishes behind the newborns, as if any trace of the firstborn ever existed.
The hunter gazes at the starry host. A lonely howl cannot hide the hunger that exists within him. A long feathery tail is attached to the end of a body that started giant-sized but grew bigger all the way up to its head. His eyes are covered by ungroomed hair, drooping down, but he can still see through. Nose to the ground, he picks up a scent, causing his massive stomach to grumble. A long tongue hangs down, cracking a steady flow of saliva. His big head arches upwards toward a time long ago.

This is the first story in a series called Journey through the Eye of the Needle. All of the stories are in the context of what is known as The Wisdom Tree.
Is it the beginning of time? For Alphason, a man who has seen paradise with his own two eyes, it is a step in the right direction after many decisions that have led him to stumble. Many in this new world have unclear intentions. Giants have large appetites. Birds are especially hazardous. Fallen Sand have their own ideas on how this world should be. Through all of this, Alphason searches for someone with shared experiences. Both of them have a story to tell, a tragedy of crushed hope. Little do they know about their own lives, a powerful deity looks down on them with his own intentions. It is really his story they are telling.
