About the Book

My story is about the omnipotent God and the divine intervention in the life of a Christian pastor whose faith was put to the ultimate test. After many years of talking the talk about faith, I found myself having to walk the talk about faith. The devastation of a fire set the course of living a life of homelessness for three years. My life would be change forever through the spiritual attack of the enemy of Jesus Christ, Satan, through his agents who also despise Christ’s many churches. He has tried to kill, rob, and destroy my faith.

The attack on the physical building/temple sent my congregation and me on a journey that was filled with many disappointments. It was filled with the uncertainty of not knowing if the congregation would survive as we tried to overcome the many obstacles we encountered.

My story is about a faith that so many believers in Christ profess to have as we deal with man’s impossibilities. Hanging or holding onto my faith was difficult, yet I believed that the Lord would do the impossible and conquer the unconquerable. At the beginning, looking through carnal eyes, I saw defeat as the inevitable end. But through spiritual eyes focused on Jesus, the author and finisher of every believer’s faith, instead of the agony of defeat, I am now experiencing the joy of victory.

About the Author

Dr. Cleveland became a member of Galatian Missionary Baptist Church in 1977.

In August of 1982, Dr. Cleveland received his calling to the ministry. He proudly received his pastoral diploma in April 1988, his bachelor’s of theology on December 21, 2003, his master’s of theology May 25, 2004, and his doctorate of theology on May 29, 2005.

Dr. Cleveland was appointed as interim pastor of Galatian of June 30, 1987, to fill the void left by the transition of the late Dr. H. W. Burroughs, his predecessor. In November 1987, Dr. Cleveland was elected full pastor. In 1994, the Adversary was busy. Person(s) unknown began vandalizing and burglarizing the church on Roosevelt Street, culminating in a fire that completely destroyed the remaining Chapel of Worship and all of its contents. After nearly three years of trying to rebuild a new place of worship, Galatian returned home in July 1997.
