Creation - First half of Session 1
Opening Prayer
Lord God you are the creator of all. May your Holy Spirit guide us in this study of your Word so that we accurately learn your true message. Bless us with the time and patience to not only begin this study; but that we can complete it through to the end. In this effort we seek to grow our faith and give glory you. In Jesus's name we pray. Amen
Introduction
The goal of this first lesson is to study the Bible's account of how God created the world and all that is in it. The beginning of everything (except God because he has always existed) is where the first verse of the first page of the first book of the Bible begins. It is good to begin with the real beginning so that a solid foundation can be established for the study of the rest of the Bible.
Session Material
1. It is fitting that we understand how it all got started so we can more fully understand the Bible's main message, i.e., that we have a loving God who provides a way for us to spend eternity with him even though we do not always deserve it. Read Genesis 1:1 and fill in the following blanks: “In the the heavens and earth. Deeply pondering these words enriches our understanding of the Bible's account of creation. God, not some random chance event, has made us who we are.
2. The word Genesis means beginning, the origin, or the coming into being of something. Everything had a beginning except God. What does Revelation 1:8 say about God? He is the and the . This means God is the beginning and the end of all of his creation. He reigns over all of creation then, now and forever.
3. Let’s get to know God a little better. Based on the following Bible passages briefly describe many of his admirable characteristics

4. The Bible assumes and nowhere questions the fact that God has always existed and is always within reach of each one of us. He is just one prayer away. Another fact about God is that He is a Triune God meaning three persons in one; those being God the , God the , and God the .
Note: You might wonder how God be three persons in one. Our limited minds have a hard time understanding this concept this side of the grave. But, consider H2O, the chemical symbol for water. It can be a liquid. Freeze water and you get a solid. When you heat up water you get a gas or steam. Thus we can see water in three different states. Nothing is impossible for God.

About the Book
This Bible study is based on God’s inerrant Word. This study is unique in that it is laid out into thirty-two sessions that can be completed in one school year. This Bible study can be tailored to a junior/senior high school class setting, a two-semester college-level setting, or to a less formal teen or adult Bible-study group setting. Learning is reinforced by students reading the Word, then hearing the Word, and finally writing about the Word. Each session covers main events and/or people relevant to the Bible’s main message. The main message is that God’s plan to save a fallen world was accomplished through the redemptive act of his Son, Jesus, who died on the cross and rose from the grave. For all who believe in Jesus, he will grant eternal life. By the time you complete all thirty-two sessions, you will have spent time in every one of the sixty-six books of the Bible. In the teacher’s copy, detailed information is provided to help the teacher design his/her course that will be most relevant to their classes. Further, the teacher’s copy contains all of the answers to the questions in every session.
About the Author
This brief overview of the author of “Genesis thru Revelation: Complete Bible Study” is intended to show that we can continue to grow in the knowledge of God’s Word, no matter how much knowledge we have or experiences we have faced.
Ed Genske, the author who is now in his 60’s as of this writing, has been a Christian his whole life thanks to the efforts of his God-fearing parents and by God’s grace. Through his growing years he gained a deep love for God’s Word. As a teenager in the 1960’s he first taught the fourth grade Sunday school class at his church. Later he became the teacher for the high school class. In 1970 he completed a two-year train-the-teacher course in the “Bethel Bible Series” which was authored by Rev. Harley A. Swiggum. That course covered the entire Bible in two years of study. It was that course that planted the seed that eventually germinated into this Bible study. Since the 1970’s Ed has lead Bible studies in both high school and adult settings, most of the time writing his own material.
As far as formal training and education is concerned Ed completed a patternmaking apprenticeship, obtained a bachelor’s degree from Saginaw Valley State University, a master’s degree from Central Michigan University, and a Ph.D. from Kennedy-Western University in business, with focus on management, finance, and organizational development.
Ed was employed as an engineer in the auto industry and recently retired having worked 48 years with his same employer. He also retired from his adjunct faculty position after 21 years from Saginaw Valley State University. Now he has more time to do God’s work.
Ed has held many positions of responsibility both inside and outside his church. He is currently in his eleventh year as President of his local church, a position he has also held in two other churches as well. He has also worked on many other boards and committees in the management of the church.
Ed believes in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He also believes that the 66 books of the Bible are God’s inerrant Word. His Christian teachings over four decades have demonstrated and witnessed to that fact. This book also demonstrates that fact.
