Virtue is Trustworthy and Frugal

The heart of her husband trusts in her, and he will have no lack of gain.

Proverbs 31:11

1. This particular proverb speaks of the Proverb 31 woman’s husband having trust in her. What might be some areas that you need to work on in order to establish a stronger bond of confidence and trust in your marriage relationship?

2. Here are some areas that you can examine yourself by to help build your husband’s trust in you (circle the ones that need your attention):

3. You may feel that, if your husband doesn’t do right or if he is an unbeliever, these scriptures concerning the virtuous woman do not apply the same to you as they do to others in a more “ideal” marriage where both the husband and wife are believers striving to do right. Read 1 Peter 3:1-6 and Proverbs 31:11 and list some things that you can do to improve your marriage by believing and applying those scriptures to your marriage.

4. Sometimes your circumstances can be very difficult. God knows this and He cares. Do you realize that God holds all women accountable to trust His design for them regardless of their difficult circumstances? His design for women is not only good for the husband but also for the wife. Are there attitudes that you need to confess and forsake so that you can better trust God’s will for you concerning applying this proverb in your marriage relationship? If so, list them here –

6. When you cannot trust your husband, you can always trust the Lord. Fervent prayer and saturating your thoughts with God’s Word helps keep your focus on the Lord. Can you think of ways that you can slip away to spend more time with the Lord throughout the day?

7. What are some practical ways that you can build your husband up, honor him, and benefit his home life - all the while exemplifying godly virtue to your children?

8. Can you name something that you are not doing that you should start doing; or perhaps something that you are doing that you should stop doing, that would help build your husband’s trust in you?

9. To earn this type of trust and build this type of relationship with your husband, you need to love and serve him – unconditionally. True virtue is other centered, which means that your purpose in life cannot be your own happiness. Can you think of some practical ways that you can build him up and put him first?
