Develop a Strong Fighting Spirit

Our Fight, five areas that can ensure you get a good life if properly controlled,

There is this popular notion about life as a battle field. Well I don’t doubt that. But all I can say for now is that this life is never a playground. In order to rise to the top in any field of endeavour, you have to know how to fight your way through. In the jungle, the best fighter is King and so is this world. One thing I think most believers need to understand is that Jesus never died and rose to change conditions in this world. He did this to change us and empower us to go through this life. We will also meet what the people of this world meet, on their way to achievement. But in all this our story should be different. I will go deeper on this later. But the truth I want you to understand is that, in this life we meet all sought of things that seek to hinder us from progress and success, and to be able to sail through to higher heights in any field of endeavor, you need to develop a strong fighting spirit.

This explains why many have been victimized. If you have encountered people in every walk of life, I think you would understand what I am talking about. The reason why people try all sought of means to get emancipated from most of the woes of this life is the result of the constant battles life presents. All across the pages of social history, there is one thing you don’t cease to see or notice, that is, many have been whipped by certain issues of life and have been left brutalized and victimized. As a minister of the gospel I have always witnessed the stories of people who seem to be crushed and totally disintegrated due to one issue or the other which happened to them in this life.

People have come to me weeping and groaning over issues and matters of life. Get to churches and other religious groups and you will see people who bear scars and marks of different issues seeking answers for the problems, troubles and challenges each day brings. You see, God has not promised anywhere in His Word an easy ride through this life. What He promises is the assurance of getting through any situation or difficulty no matter what. He most often uses those things we go through to develop us and train our hands for battle. God knows best and helps us understand later that we really needed those challenges or battles so as to get to our intended destinations in life.

That is why in the book of Judges 3:1-2, the Bible says, “…these are the nations which the Lord left, to prove Israel by them, even as many of Israel as had not known all the wars of canan; Only that the generations of the children of Israel might know, to teach them war, at least such as before knew nothing thereof. He God, left other opposing Canaan nations undefeated, so that through them He could teach each generation of Israelites war. The Contemporary English Version of the Bible puts the same verse this way, “And the LORD had another reason for letting these enemies stay. The Israelites needed to learn how to fight in war, just as their ancestors had done. Each new generation would have to learn by fighting.” The Psalmist also said, “Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight” Psalm 144: 1. You need to know and learn how to fight your way through to your destiny, and God will help you do that if you give Him the chance. There are certain enemies which can hinder you from getting close to your breakthrough which need to be defeated. To be successful you need to defeat those enemies of ignorance, disappointment, discouragement, despair, distractions, disloyalty and indiscipline. Defeat these and you are sure to find your way to success, and to do that you need to have a fighting spirit. Interestingly every believer has this ability in his or her spirit but is undeveloped.

To develop that attitude of a fighter, God takes us through series of challenges (which doesn’t come from Him necessarily). Each of us needs both the spiritual and psychological muscles to fight our way through. I know that the setbacks, challenges and resistance which we face are all to build in us the strength and wisdom we need to get to our destinations. Strength grows out of resistance. This is not to say that all challenges come from God;most are self-imposed whereas others are from the devil. There are some too God allows into our lives to help develop us for our destiny. This was the main reason why God took the people of Israel through the wilderness before leading them into the Promised Land.

If you lack the strength and energy to fight on your way to success, then you have a long way to go. If you care to know there is no easy means to greatness in life, yet it doesn’t mean you should settle down for anything less. Live for something uncommon, and be bold to fight till you achieve it. Let nothing neither terrify nor stop you. Develop that spirit of a fighter in you, if only you want to do the impossible. Men of faith are really men of war. They have the ability to fight their way through to the top. If you see men who have genuinely risen in their field of endeavors, respect and pay them ‘tribute’. This is because not all are able to sail through the challenges of life. They need your respect for surviving and overcoming what hinders others.

Great men are really over comers. You cannot be termed a champion, if you have not won any battle or challenge. An over comer is someone who has overcome. A victor has also won. And they do these by fighting. Great rewards are given to those who overcome. Read the book of Revelation 2, 3 and you will realize how Christ himself cherishes over comers.
