Romans 13:14 “But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.”
A few weeks ago my wife and children prepared for a road trip to Florida. Our destination was approximately 11 hours away. Being that we were going to be there for the next 3-4 days we began to pack. My wife being the mother hen not only packed for herself but for our two small boys. In a separate suitcase I began to pack my things. I put in underclothes, socks, swim shorts for the beach, dress clothes for my cousin’s graduation, etc. I took my toiletry bag and the charger for my phone and tablet. Finally, I got to the shoes. I packed flip flops, a brown dress pair of shoes and a black pair of shoes. As I finally zipped up my suitcase and was bringing it through the laundry room, I looked down at the floor and spotted my gym shoes. Well, I definitely needed to take them with me, I thought. However, my bag was puffed out and there really was no space for another pair of shoes. I made a decision to wear shoes that I could work out in because there was no space in my bag.
Shouldn’t this be how we plan our day? Shouldn’t we put an emphasis each day on God, family, work and Christ based-fun? There is so much to learn about Jesus Christ and the plan, purpose and promises that He has in store for us. (III John 2 “Beloved I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in good health even as they soul prospereth.”) Then as we learn more about Him, we integrate application of the Word in our family relationships, occupations and other enjoyable aspects in life. (Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all thing heart; and lean not to thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him and he shall direct thy paths.”)
You will find it comforting to know that Christ-centered lives are yet still enjoyable. (John 10:10 (b) “but I am come that ye might have life and that more abundantly.”) Even more importantly, when we live after the Holy Spirit, we don’t allow anytime for lust addiction. (Galatians 5:16 AMP “But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the [Holy] Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh (of human nature without God).
Prayer: Lord thank you for the space that you occupy in my mind, heart, soul and spirit. If I stay in tune with You through meditation on the Word and prayer, even through today’s tasks, it will keep my mind too occupied to fulfill the lusts of the flesh. What is more, thinking on you is not burdensome for “your yoke is easy and your burden is light.” In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Lastly, he includes a daily Purity Pledge. This pledge includes practical tips such as purposefully limiting internet time and praying to God for an accountability partner. This is a devotional that the reader will not simply go through. This is a devotional that a reader will “grow” through.
About the Author
For over 17 years, Andrae P. Crismon, Sr. grappled with lust addiction even as a believer who had been raised in the church. Interestingly enough, his struggle with pornography began the same year that he accepted God’s call to ministry. The insights shared here are not merely academic but rather inspiration gathered after the Holy Spirit delivered him from chains that he was incapable of escaping of his own power. His life now is a testament to God’s ability to turn his struggle into His ministry. For over 6 years, Andrae has been free from this addiction and proudly serving as the pastor of Higher Ground Worship Center Church of God in Christ in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. He is married to the love of his life, Crystal. The Crismons have been blessed with two sons, Andrae II and Caleb.
