Week 38
Dedication – Are We Willing?
Set your minds on things above, not earthly things. Colossians 3:2

The Greek word used for “mind” is phroneo, which means mind, sentiment, understanding, or opinion. The King James Version says affection. When we commit our minds and our talents to something, it should have our full concentration and dedication. Our minds are engaged with the things we are passionate or sentimental about. Only then will it have meaning. Paul is asking us to set our minds to Godly things, and to be passionate about them. Remember that Paul instructs us in Colossians 3:23 that “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men.”
In Exodus 31, we see two Israelites, Bezalel & Oholiab, who were filled with the Spirit of God and were blessed with skill for arts and crafts. They had a special role in the construction of Moses’ Tabernacle (see week 18). Exodus 36:2 says “Then Moses summoned Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person to whom the Lord had given ability and who was willing to come and do the work.” In Exodus 35, we read about all those who not only had the skill that God blessed them with, but was willing to use it for the glory of God. We also see that the people were dedicated in their crafts, and wanted to ensure they did their best. God has blessed us in so many ways, and has given each of us a unique set of skills. How we choose to use those skills and talents is dependent on us. Are we willing to use what God has given us for His divine purpose?

About the Book
The purpose of this devotional is to allow the church worship team to come together prior to rehearsal or service for a time of learning, encouraging, strengthening, and prayer. This book presents a weekly devotional based on topics that are relevant for the individual team member, as well as the corporate spiritual growth of the group. Each devotional will have a biblical lesson and verse as the main topic, along with a contemporary application in worship. Equip & Perfect: Worship is designed to guide discussions and to help better understand the importance of worshiping God.
About the Author
Dr. Cheriyan is a licensed minister with the Assemblies of God and has been a Worship Leader and Choir Director for over 15 years. He completed his Master’s degree in Worship Studies at the University of Valley Forge. He is also a physician, who after graduating, dedicated his career in education and served as the Dean and Director at an allied health school. Dr. Cheriyan currently resides in NY with his wife and two children. He continues to lead worship and is on the leadership team at a local AG church.
