What if Believers began to ENGAGE more with others? Sure it's very comfortable to celebrate Christmas and Easter with our fellow Believers. It is fun and not uncomfortable to have "Happy Birthday, Jesus" parties with those who share the same beliefs we do. When we celebrate with other Believers, we don't get a knot in the pit of our stomachs and wonder what others are going to think about us. This word, ENGAGE, has been on the forefront of my mind since the fall of 2008 when my oldest baby walked into our local, public elementary school. Engage is the opposite of retreat, and that, my friends, is what God desires for His children...to engage in this culture, not to retreat into our comfortable bubbles. This isn't always easy. It takes work. It takes compassion for others. It takes obedience to the Father. Sometimes I don't feel like doing it, but God is gracious. God has given me a great passion for hosting these seasonal parties. They are outreaches, but I learned pretty quickly that I needed to only call them "parties". One day while walking home from school my daughter, who was then a 1st grader, was telling me all the kids she was asking to come to our outreach. Oops! I don't want the guests to know they are actually outreaches. I want them to enjoy a party in our home and also to walk away knowing how they can have a personal relationship with our Heavenly Father. What kid doesn't enjoy a party?! As I've been hosting these parties, I've been reminded that some kids do not often (if ever) get invited to parties or into other people's homes. By opening our homes, we are providing hospitality and that personal touch for which many people are starving in these days of voice mails, emails, text messages, and social media.
In the pages that follow, I will outline a simple step by step process of how to host a simple party with a significant impact. I still feel like these parties are a work in progress as each time we host one, I come away with a new idea or two. The ideas are definitely not limited to the ideas listed here. I hope these pages will inspire you to engage in the lives of those living around you, including your own family, your neighbors, and perhaps the kids in your schools, sports teams, and other areas of interest. The chapters ahead will walk you through the basics of planning and hosting a simple party that will have a significant impact.

About the Author
Tricia Wilson has worked with children for over twenty years and has been involved in the ministry of evangelism since her college days in the early 1990s. She has taken the good news to various parts of the globe, including Spain, Russia, Ukraine, Belarus, El Salvador, Guatemala, Peru, and a socialist island in the Caribbean. Her biggest passion is equipping and encouraging others to share the good news right where they are in their neighborhoods, schools, and communities. This led her to begin WeeEngage Ministries. Tricia, her husband, and their four children live in McKinney, Texas.
