Being caught by his father in his jacket, which he had blatantly refused to let him have, would be an awful experience, Kene fearfully admitted as he climbed the stairs. He had been able to sneak it out early in the morning. But would he be able to sneak it back in place and avoid confrontation with Ebuka? he pondered.
His own jacket could no longer shield him from the early morning cold, and his father knew that. Ebuka wasn’t using the jacket, yet he wouldn’t release it to him despite his desperate need for it, he mused.
He paused for a moment when he reached their apartment, fearing the worst.
He put his hand through the opening in the gate in front of the door, keys in his hand. The padlock was locked, with the bolt of the gate only hanging over it. Could his father have forgotten to lock the gate before leaving the house? Was he home already? Kene wondered as he opened the gate.
Sceptical, he slid his key into the keyhole, turned it anti-clockwise. It hooked—the door was obviously unlocked. His eyes popped as he twisted the knob and the door opened.
Ebuka was seated in the sitting room, in front of the TV—home already. It was too late, Kene realised. He should have probably taken off the jacket and kept it outside—he wouldn’t have done so if he had the chance. He knew he had to face it now—he had been busted!

Saadia, a determined teenage girl whose dreams are interrupted because of her daunting circumstances, bumps into Kene after four years of being separated from him. Their peculiar conditions create a bond between them that would result in an unforeseen outcome, proving no depth is beyond the reach of a miracle.
