Challenge - A Catalyst for Change
Life is not without adversity. There are times of unexpected
circumstances when we are challenged or feel inadequate in ourselves
to meet the needs that we are faced with. We certainly may feel that
we are under pressure; however, when this happens we are to look to
Him rather than rely on ourselves.
Rebuilding My Life
The rebuilding of my life was to begin far more quickly than I imagined.
Once the Lord had placed a clear picture in my heart of His purpose
and plan, it seemed as if He opened up an amazing pathway before me
and I was to simply walk this path at His leading. It may sound simple,
but I was ever conscious of my need to trust Him, and of course He is
ever ready to teach us that there is no other way.
I had arrived home after staying with my daughter for several days
at the end of the second week after my husband’s funeral. What I was
about to do was quite remarkable to me. By the grace of God, I held in
my hand a written copy of all that the Lord had placed in my heart for
me to do. It gave me a real hope when looking forward to the future.
His plan for me was to use what He had “placed within in my hand”
to motivate and to activate faith within me. He had shown me this plan
one day when I had felt so broken that all I could do was pour my heart
out to Him. Moments like these are always a good time to seek Him
because there is nothing like earnest prayer, where there is no place for
pretence and you desperately need His direction.
While staying at my daughter’s home, I went out walking one
day. I will always remember that day. It would become a pivotal point
that was to change my life. A thought had been continually coming to
mind: Come to Me. Read of My Word. This happened two or three times
before it really caught my attention. Once I realized that these thoughts
were not mine, I then paid close attention to what was being said. The
following words came: I stand at your door and knock, because I long to come
in to comfort you, I Am the Comforter, but you must look to me to receive from
me. That prompting was so real that I immediately turned back from
my walk that day and returned to my daughter’s house.
I was being stirred in my heart to expect to receive from Him.
What I was about to see was how His hand would work amazingly on
my behalf. When I got back to my daughter’s home, I went straight to

About the Book
This is my story of the times when the Lord had caused me to perceive his amazing presence and to know by experience his preservation of my life.
It is my desire to share how God is continually at work even today in our lives, in this generation, just as he had in previous generations. I want to share the many wonderful times that he has chosen to reveal his hand to me as he has been involved in the day by day circumstances of my own life. I will also write about the times when I saw him work through me and the ways that he would reveal himself to others. It was in those times when he would help them and things would happen in such a way that they were aware that it wasn’t me. His desire is to turn people to look to him because his hand is open to meet their need in a way that only he can.
About the Author
Lois is both a wife and mother who has encountered life’s difficulties and faced the turmoil of life’s storms. She has worked through the normal daily challenges of life, to the depth of sorrow with brokenness, walking the journey with another facing terminal illness, then the experience of loss.
She then found herself confronted with the unknown of what the future held for her. Plans that had seemed to turn to ashes, God worked and turned into something beautiful.
In that place she discovered that her greatest strength came from knowing by experience, she was not alone, for there was One Greater (The Lord) who was walking with her.
From childhood to adulthood as a wife and a parent, life’s challenges do come to each of us. But she discovered that the ‘Still Small Voice of God’ began to speak to her in a greater way. More and more she relied on His leading and guiding her on a remarkable journey that was far above all she could have imagined or thought possible. And a whole new life was to begin.
Lois Smith lives with her husband in Taupo, New Zealand, has 2 children, 6 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
