An Unlikely Alliance

"The police told them that terrorist attacks had occurred overnight in cities, hotels, trains, and airports. Tourists were being targeted, especially Americans. John explained he was from the American Consulate, and the gentleman with him was one of their marine guards.
The policeman said, "Why don't you take the young lady to the Consulate. She will be much safer there than here. One of our police cars will escort you to the Consulate. Now be gone. Hurry up! Sbrigati! Sbrigati!"
Sarah thanked the desk clerk and the policeman and apologized for what the assailant had done to the door.
The marine guard and John grabbed Sarah's suitcases; she picked up her purse, passport, and the last of her belonging. They quickly exited the building. The police escorted them safely to the American Consulate.
Chapter Seven
Once safely inside the Consulate compound, after the danger was passed, Sarah's knees began to shake! She thanked the Marine guard and John for rescuing her. She told them what the intruder had done and how frightened she was. She asked, "What's going on? I heard someone say something about terrorists?"
"By now Mr. Jackson had entered the room. He told them that railroads and airports had been damaged in several European countries, including in Italy. There had been an attack on the Vatican, airports in Frankfurt, Germany; Paris, France; London, England and New York City plus numerous other cities in America had been damaged. Air travel was at a standstill."
