Why did Abraham have so much confidence in the Blessing? Abraham knew a secret about God; a secret that you and me need to know and embrace. Knowing the secret of Abraham will change your perspective about the promises of God. He demonstrated such a rare and courageous faith to the extent that he was ready to sacrifice his only son, the heir apparent whom he loved so much, and who was supposed to carry on the inheritance “...and Isaac spake unto Abraham his father, and said, My father: and he said, Here am I, my son. And he said, Behold the fire and the wood: but where is the lamb for a burnt offering? And Abraham said, My son, God will provide himself a lamb for a burnt offering: so they went both of them together. And they came to the place which God had told him of; and Abraham built an altar there, and laid the wood in order, and bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar upon the wood. And Abraham stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son.” (Genesis 22:6-10). You will notice that Abraham spoke to his son with such certainty of God’s provision of a Lamb. Why? Abraham knew the nature of God that the Almighty God is holy! This knowledge of the holiness of God is what gives assurance to the blessing of Abraham. The nature of God is the backbone of Abraham’s blessing. The assurance of Abraham’s blessing is resident in the very nature of the Almighty God. The God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, is altogether holy. The holiness of God is what sets Him apart as the Almighty Creator, Who created all things. As long as God is holy, you can depend on the blessing of Abraham. There is no other god, who is holy besides the Lord our God...
Holiness and righteousness are the foundation of His throne. Everything He does comes out of His holiness and love, and as a result, He cannot tell a lie. He is not afraid of anyone neither is He seeking the favor of any. His Word is true in all circumstances.
A person may tell a lie when he is afraid of someone, something or when he is seeking for a favor and for many other reasons a person can tell a lie, but not God. Scriptures upon scriptures state the fact that the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob CANNOT LIE.
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us:
(Hebrews 6:18).
By His unalterable and unchangeable manner, it is impossible for the God of the Blessing of Abraham to lie. He said these things, so you do not have to give in to fear or doubt. God has bound or committed Himself to His Word. In the book of Psalms the Lord reassured king David of His commitment to bring to pass everything He told the king of Israel. God said to him “My covenant I will not break, Nor alter the word that has gone out of My lips. Once I have sworn by My holiness; I will not lie to David:” (Psalm 89:34-35). To assure David of His continued desire to bless him and his offspring, God swore by His holiness. What He says to one, He says to all. The Lord has also sworn never to lie to you. God’s greatest reputation is His holiness. His nature of holiness is as good as God Himself. To let you be rest assured, He swore by His holiness.
When the Prophet Isaiah saw the Lord’s glory in His holiness, he concluded he was a dead man. Why? His holiness is breathtaking, heart-stopping and incredibly amazing...The Lord’s glory comes from His holiness, shining forth and filling the whole earth. God’s holiness is the backbone of the blessing of Abraham. The strength behind the Lord’s blessing is HOLINESS. Be assured the blessing is dependable.
Take away God’s holiness and the Lord’s blessing will be nothing, and God Himself nothing. But God be praised, He cannot be separated from His holiness. The scripture says, even when we deny Him, He cannot deny Himself. He is holy; holiness is the very nature of God, it is the very breath of God. God’s holiness, His Throne and the Lord of host Himself are behind the Blessing of Abraham. Due to His holiness, He cannot change His promises. We are told in scripture that God is the same all the time, yesterday, today and forever. He remains the same.
This is our confidence that God is HOLY, and therefore, cannot let down anyone. He did not disappoint David the shepherd boy; neither will He disappoint you, as long as you dare to trust Him.
God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good? (Numbers 23:19).
Everything God promised, He will make good in your life. He is true to every one of His promises.
For you to know the backbone of the blessing of Abraham, The Lord said “...If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season; Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.” (Jeremiah 33:20-21). Every day that you wake up in the morning and go to bed at night, is evidence that God’s blessing reigns supreme. Understanding the nature of God, that as a result of His holiness and love, He cannot lie, will boost your faith.
