The Basics

To be honest, I am not qualified to write a book. To be completely honest, I’m not qualified to do many things God has called me to. It’s comforting to know that I have a God who uses me anyway and makes His strength so evident through my weaknesses. In no way do I feel I have all the answers, Nor do I believe I am a theologian because I’m not. However, God has birthed a desire in me for new believers to know Him better. That desire has grown every day since He first called me into ministry.

I grew up in the church and have seen a lot of different churches and their functions. I don’t know exact statistics, but what I do know is that I’ve seen huge churches with huge events and many people flooding the worship services only to find that years down the road, just a small number of those Christians are still serving the Lord. Now, that will always be the case to a degree, but it shouldn’t be the norm. The reason this is happening is not because the leaders are pagans or because these pastors have bad formulas, but because Christians aren’t growing in their understanding and insight. Biblical illiteracy is quenching the move of God in our churches today. In churches and student ministries around America, we continue to preach casual Christianity, which produces nothing but short-term, surface-level followers who, in most cases, haven’t even had a genuine conversion.
