As Jonathan was getting ready to dip his jar into the brook he looked at his reflection, “Look at my muscles Purity,” he said as he flexed his muscles, Purity raised her eyebrows.
All of a sudden Jonathan saw in his reflection, a very tall muscular man dressed in a white robe, standing behind him. Jonathan jumped up so quickly he fell into the brook. In an instant, the angel gently picked him up and blew lightly on him and in one second Jonathan was completely dry and warm. Jonathan’s eyes were wide with wonder and the angel quietly laughed showing his brilliant white teeth.
As the angel gently sat Jonathan down he said, “Do not be fearful Jonathan, I am an angel. I am here to tell you that tonight there will be two very special births. Purity will give birth to her lamb tonight, although it is not the regular birthing season for lambs. Also, a very special baby will be born in Bethlehem; his name will be called Jesus. Many people throughout time will know him and love him, and He will love everyone, especially little children.”
Jonathan knelt next to Purity and rubbed her head with his fingertips; “Will I love Jesus too?” he asked.
The angel smiled and ruffled Jonathan’s black curly hair and said, “Oh yes, you will love him very much and He will love you. I must go for now; but I will see you again very soon.”

About the Book
Jonathan’s Gift, takes young readers on a journey with a shepherd boy as he experiences angel visitations, skeptical shepherds, a grouchy uncle, playful care of his sheep, and his perfect gift that he takes to Baby Jesus. Jonathan and the older shepherds visit the Christ Child, which leads to love and forgiveness between Jonathan and his uncle. Children will identify with Jonathan as he experiences the adventures and miraculous events of that blessed night.
About the Author
Cindy Willis has been married to her childhood sweetheart for forty five years. She has three children, 15 grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Cindy received her Diploma from Institute of Children’s Literature. Her course study was, Writing for Children and Teenagers. She began teaching in 1965 and has taught Children’s Church, Sunday school and children’s camps in California, Oregon, Washington, Texas and Arizona.
Cindy’s calling and heart has been to teach children of Jesus since she was fourteen years old. She writes Bible stories with the main character being a child. She does so to help children more easily understand the miracles and lessons of Christ.
Upon retirement she began preparing her stories for publishing. Jonathan’s Gift is her first published book.
