Peaceful is the soul when it senses the rustling wind
Swirls of freedom and abandon, so magically in it blend
Happy is the soul when the sunshine’s touch is felt
Warmth dons the face like a soothing satin pelt
Blissful is the soul when it is treated to salty air
Lifted by the lulling waves…crashing here and there
Joyous is the soul as mountain views flood the eye
Awesome splendor is freely found where stony crag meets silky sky
Stricken silent is the soul when allowing creation to sing
Praises lift without a word, as if an offering
Simply plain and ordinary is what some would say these are
They cannot see Love’s promise twinkling bright in every star
They cannot hear Love singing softly in the gentle summer rain
They cannot feel the power of Love commanding wax and wane
They somehow miss the signs and wonders God graciously displays
They allow their minds to sink into the fog of logic’s haze
Blessed I am to sense and taste, to touch and feel and see
All are blessings, every one: God’s blessings just for me

About the Author
Linda Gordon Sprout is a born and raised West Virginian. She is a wife, a mom, a nurse, and now, an author. Linda attributes her writing style to God. Her prayers for comfort after the sudden death of her mother were answered, she says, in the form of a writing relationship. “He placed a poem in my mind that soothed the pain. Then, He did it again, and again. It wasn’t long until I felt led to share what He was giving me: His expressions of love … expressed in poetry.”
