Hardened Heart
The world is at a place of urgency. We must be steadfast in prayer and fasting. Where there is urgency, there is often times fear. Fear causes one to retreat. Retreat is a place of solitude for prayer or meditation. Moreover, it is also the act or process of withdrawing-from difficulty or danger. Depending on your level of faith-‘hoping for a thing, you’ve yet to see and have no evidence of’ -fear will cause you to draw nearer to God or farther away from Him.
In drawing away from God, often times it’s difficult to identify the true state that we are in. In fact, this is especially true if our environment, normal daily routines or activities have remained the same. During these times, knowingly or unknowingly, we build a wall up around us. Even worse, we build one up around our hearts.
For our protection, we convince ourselves that we are just guarding our hearts. The reality is that it is a twisted truth. I say twisted truth because while it is God’s will for us to guard (protect) our hearts-according to Proverbs 4:23 (NIV) “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” It is NOT His will for us to prevent the Holy Spirit from moving freely through us -especially through our hearts!
